    Pros

Good benefits and resources to learn and progress. 1 day a week flexible work from home.
Lots of great new products to support with great potential.

    Cons

Too many layoffs and lots of parking space for employees. Management constantly changing strategies and right from top management following a revolving door policy every 3 years as a result no consistency or job stability.

    Advice to Management

A lost decade of struggling growth as compared to the 1990's record growth. The ploy to attract wall street with high dividends and promises of growth for the past decade have only have them struggle and chase the shadow of it being a ghost on being a growth company. Over 6 CEos over the past decade reigned and golden parachuted much to the detriment of the company and its employees. Fire sale of owned buildings including world headquarters can be quite concerning to all stake holders. Focus on growing the company through long term strategy both in terms of employees and products and growth will follow. Its been a lost decade and time for top management to have lessons learnt from history.

    Pros

Decent pay, lots of opportunity, interesting place to work with many benefits

    Cons

Layoffs are random and non performance based. Every year you have to worry about your job based on unseen metrics and despite reassurances from management/glowing performance reviews

    Advice to Management

Stop outsourcing and rehiring, train people to do what they need to do.

    "Devoted mainframe employees, fragile business"

I have been working at CA Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

CA's flagship software on the mainframe platform has been business-critical in many industries for several decades. It's not uncommon to find mainframe teams that have invested 25+ years in their product; the senior architects/developers on these teams are always very talented engineers, and have a sense of community that's quite rewarding to participate in .

    Cons

The enterprise software division has been failing-to-thrive for a long time, while the mainframe BU remains a free cash flow machine. So upper management (hungry for growth and higher share prices) have continually diverted resources from the latter to invest in the former.

It's unclear if (or when) this strategy will produce sustainable growth in enterprise.

But it's very clear the continually-malnourished mainframe BU is an increasingly fragile situation. Each retiring senior architect leaves a productivity vacuum that the firm cannot fill even by ramping up recruitment in the mid-level talent pool it has access to.

    Advice to Management

Face up to reality, spin off mainframe in an LBO that will do more to preserve its legacy revenue streams, and let enterprise sink-or-swim organically.

I worked at CA Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

good place to work, the people are great, benefits are great, and the office is a comfotable place to be.

    Cons

their main division is mainframes. large portion of their revenue is from mainframes. These systems aren't going to be around for long, so I worked there for a year and found another place with a brighter future.

    layoffs twice a year !!!

    Advice to Management

stop changing things so randomly and quickly.

I worked at CA Technologies (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice and friendly people, no overtimes, no unrealistic expectations. The social events were fun. The scrum seemed to work.

    Cons

the following can be also pro for someone: there was a lot of difference between the knowledge of employees in associate levels. Probably it is related to the fact that they were hired almost everyone who was willing to learns assembler.

    Advice to Management

    1 programmer != 1 other programmer
If you find a talented programmer don't let him go away, it is hard to find good programmers.
