I have been working at CAE as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great mood, low average age so it is really dynamic and projects are really interesting and different from one another.

    Cons

There is a lot to learn. Not complicated things, but a lot of systems with a lot of variables and differences over their iterations.

    Advice to Management

I'd say to keep it that way! The business/project structure seems to be well studied and feels really efficient. The backlog seems to be overloaded though, maybe hire more to be sure not to lose contracts.

    Pros

Interesting products, great colleagues, international travel

    Cons

Constant re-organizations that seem to follow the management fad of the day; too focused on the next quarterly results, rather than on improving how the company functions and delivers.

    Pros

    Shut down during Christmas break.

    Cons

If your part of the clique (read: suck up), easy to get promoted. Management with no people skills are easily promoted to positions they shouldn't be in. HR Business Partners can't be trusted. Very easy to see which team members are favoured. Be prepared to suck up majorly if you want to fit in.

    Pros

Employees are nice and fun to work with
    Flex-time and Bank time
    Great product

    Cons

    Management are yes man
Too many managers apply Agile to the letter (heavy Agile processes) instead of taking only parts that make sense (Light Agile processes)
No long term view and commitment
Promotions are not given on accomplishment basis but by who someone knows

    Advice to Management

Start looking at long term instead of focusing to short term
Promotion should be based on accomplishments and because you are part of a boy's club

Staff demonstrating initiative are generally assigned challenging job assignments.
Career advancement is possible within the company.
Employees are often able to work autonomously.

    Cons

The corporate culture needs to be improved.
Management really needs to listen to employees rather than just conduct employee satisfaction surveys.

    Advice to Management

Although salaries are quite competitive, overall employee morale continues to decline. Employee turnover needs to be further investigated via exit interviews.

Large company with tons of great defence/aerospace work. Awesome talent, some of the best to be found anywhere.
