I worked at CAE full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A good place to get your "feet wet" as a simulator technician or engineer or diversify professionally. Good promotion opportunities throughout the company, as it is a revolving door in many departments (i.e. there will always be "shoes to fill"). Instructor group - especially the former airline pilots - are great to work with.

    Cons

Pay and benefits are no where near competitive with other shops. CAE does not invest in its people; technical training of personnel is nearly non-existent as it is not budgeted. Over-reliance on OJT, assuming the people teaching it know what they're doing. Mediocrity or doing "just enough" to get by is the norm. Little to no accountability.

    Advice to Management

Put all simulator technicians on a single pay scale. Give people a reason to stay. Offer retention bonuses. Offer industry-leading pay and benefits. Adjust the business model as necessary to allow for this to happen.

I have been working at CAE full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Best company to work for in the aviation simulation world. Good on your resume if you want to go elsewhere.

    Cons

Hard to move up in your own site. Your only chance to move up is if someone leaves or willing to relocate to other states.

    Advice to Management

    Management is actually ok

I have been working at CAE

    Pros

Some of the most brilliant people I have ever worked with. With all the things wrong these people really know how to work well together and keep pushing on. Almost always guaranteed 40 +hours a week. Insurance and benefits are ok There is a shift differential. The skills you learn here is wide range and looks great on a resume. Great extra holiday time off.

    Cons

Promotions is a joke. Raises and promotions needs to be overhauled. Continued loss of skilled employees because of this. Be prepared to have your work/life taken off balance. Every year's benefits cost more and company continues to contribute less. Any promotion or raises from the previous year basically counter balances this. Even if you work your butt off and out perform on their non-sense metrics that you are held to. Reviews are based on just non-sense. Things that are out of your control will always haunt you when they do them. Cut back on 401k contributions. No training. All on the job and learn as you go. No bonus of any kind beside over time. The most skilled and valuable employees continue to leave or get fired, which makes it hard to gain proper knowledge of the devices. Be prepared to spend time on your own to learn. Management have no interest in personal growth. Constant favoritism and blatant ignorance of employee's struggle had almost killed the morale and started to become a toxic environment to work in. You will be pushed to work outside of your job description in all kinds of ways. Not in a good way. Human Resources had worked so many people over that everyone has no trust in them. Company finally did a company wide survey for the first time only to find how truly dissatisfied most employees are. Complains will fall on management's deaf ears and can even get you fired. No direction. Everything the company has done is only reactive. When the company actually tries to compensate they always miss the mark. If you want to work in another area and somehow do get the position. Be prepared to do both jobs. The previous job and the one you got moved to. This is for the fact that there aren't enough people to do the jobs individually.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees! Actually make a plan of action and not just move people into a newly formed position to only get fired later. Actually try to work on the employee's personal growth. Don't just say you do. DO IT! Fix the pay, raises, and promotions. It's all a mess! Make some kind of attempt to keep your highly skilled workers. Hire more people to compensate for the demand and provide some kind of training to the new workers.

I have been working at CAE part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The work is really interesting and the atmosphere at work is mentally really sain. I would also say that is rare to find a job that pays that well and is part time. The night shift gives a prime og 2.50$

    Cons

It is really hard to become a full-timer employee. Alot of personal investment is required and the salary is not going higher with the more responsability you get.

    Cons

Life - work balance is terrible. Career opportunity is almost nothing.

I worked at CAE full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

You need to be highly visible to survive in this company. If you have your boss helping you, you will get all the benefits. Certain functions like admin or HR are best to work in this company.

    Cons

Not treated on par with other regions. and the main reason is the Indian Managers who project low about the country. There is a clear difference in the role and authority of the same position between Indian location and others. You willbe given lots or promises but will not be fulfilled.

    Advice to Management

Treat all employees equal at all locations.
