I have been working at CAE for more than a year

    Pros

Flexible hours, good environment, great people, interesting work

    Cons

Working as a contractor you will make significantly less than your coworkers who are doing the same work as you, and it will bother you and effect you mentally.

I have been working at CAE for more than a year

    Pros

+ Great working environment and friendly teams + Tim Horton & Cafe inside the building + A dynamic learning environment + Multiple employee activities/sports + Travel for business purposes + Working and flying in a simulator + Scheduling based on personal preference/availability

    Cons

    - When deadlines approach, schedules/work times vary (depends on the project status, team, and other external factors such as customer requirements)

    Advice to Management

Consider hiring interns as full-time CAE employees as they become an asset once they have familiarized themselves with CAE software, tools, working environment and the team.

I have been working at CAE full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Flexible schedule and paid overtime, open work space (while you read alot of negative comments about it, it surely is a positive aspect for anyone that's more into socializing and team work), nice environment (rooftop patio, video games, foosball, soccer and softball tournaments, wellness program, bunch of benefits (stock options, extra money for health and personal spending account, more than fair sick leave program), new (but too pricy) cafeteria and many more! Easy to change positions and try different things within the company.

    Cons

There is a huge need of employees, people come and quit really quickly, mostly graduate students. Why? Poor training of these new 'kids', major lack of confidence in these same 'kids' (tell managers/SDL they finally get a new assignee in their team and watch there disapointment when you tell them it's a new hire), things tend to be slow (big companies = long processes) and some more experienced employees' are so negative about CAE products/initiatives/software that it can diminish anyone's enthusiast... regardless how much you enjoy your job.

    Advice to Management

No matter how much effort you put into new initiatives, the real issue is not yet addressed (nor identified to be honest). People (let's narrow it down to new grads) are often not interested in working for CAE because of the 'fonctionnaire' way it works (things moving slowly, employees taking advantage of the benefits, not attractive salaries for top students, vacations (not that 2 weeks + Christmas is bad, but once again does not compete with top companies) and difficulty to move up quickly. Invest in your young employees, trust them, listen to them, train them, team them together. Make CAE the next Google, Apple and Amazon, because I believe it has everything to become a 'dream company' instead of a 'big company'.

I have been working at CAE full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Some R&D project are fun. Some Snags(Debugging Work) & Project are rewarding and great opporutinity to learn. Open Space, Flexible Hours, Lunch & learn!!!!

    Cons

--Onboarding & Training is lacking. Losing good new talents. It's more of a trial by Fire. --No STD .The Application Stack is very large and not well documented. It's a transitioning company, it's doing better day by day. ---Parking is hell.

    Advice to Management

--Pair programming. Mob Programming. Rubber Duck Debugging. To supplement Code review. Basically, more ''team work'' at start to create a good footing for new assignee. --Review tasks and make a formal procedure for some of them. People need some footing. Not every task should be a new research subject. --Parking problem could be fixed by offcampus sites. -- More than 1 SME/ Ressource.

I have been working at CAE for more than a year

    Pros

    Renovated open floor working spaces.

    Cons

CAE pretends to care about its employees' work-life balance with the occasional event/free fruit/info booth, but in reality employees are overworked and underpaid.
