      Great Company to work for

      Pros

My colleagues are amazing to work with. My direct manager is one of the best I have worked for. Lots of time to complete projects and get ready for classes. Pay is very competitive-especially when comparing against the nickel and dime company of FSI.

      Cons

Sometimes the Upper Management does not listen to our needs or concerns that will enhance the customer experience, but are working together better as of late.

      Horrible Management

      Pros

Good opportunities for advancement if you are undereducated and looking for a career boost.

      Cons

Upper management, in particular, the center leader leads by fear. If you don't click then you get terminated, it doesn't matter the amount of value you have created for the company. The flight instructors are treated horribly, and upper management routinely jokes about firing people just because. HR does nothing and does not want to get on the bad side of the center leader for fear of repercussions. In addition, the company claims to have earned more money than it actually has, which falsified earnings for 2019 simply due to not understanding earned value management.

There are some really great people that work here. A few BAD apples .

      Pros

Insurance is great, stock option really good. There are a few guys that's really really cool to work with at the Home office. Ian, Ben, Damion just to name a few. If unable to travel was able to work in shop area for a couple of Months.

      Cons

100% travel, has GPS on your movements thru software. No family oriented. Only home usually 8 days a month. Training Department is Terrible or should I say Trainer is. Upper management doesn't really see everything going on on the Field level. You don't have an input to help the process for the good. Work on the west coast but travel across my territory to east coast for calls when there are calls in my own back yard smh. Lots of turn over.

      Micromanage Wrong Things

Mar 5, 2016 - TCE Instructor in Dallas, TX

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Certain freedoms to accomodate client needs. Overtime and day off pay. Worst performers can't get fired!

      Cons

Complete disrespect for instructors and examiners. Lower than ABAA pilot pay per type fir instructors. No additional qualification pay, TCE, SIM, CHeck airman. Simulators break, and maintenace is slow to fix complex issues CAE courseware and standardization is amaturish, out dated incomplete and unecessarily complex. Very little practical training of instructors, yet a lot of criticism of instructors for not complying with untrained unexplained and sometimes hidden policies. No chance for advancement unless you are part of the " bubba- club" that runs the place. Managers are incompetent, mostly former pilots with littled or no background or training in management. Adversarial and threatening management style. Managers incapable of mentoring and developing employees. The key upper management come from the outside without a clue, with the exception of one or two lifers that started as janitors and now run the place.

      Pros

Good Benefits, in general most employees are good to work with.

      Cons

Management is good at running the business but fail at employee engagement. The hard working employees have to pick up the slack for those that aren't. No one held accountable. Management belittles employees. HR is useless and protects management instead of getting to the real problems . The work environment is very hostile. No advancements for women. Co workers are allowed to be disruptive and unprofessional to others. Empty promises from management. CAE used to be a great place to work but reorganize every two years with new upper management with their own goals in mind and is destroying the company. The good and long lasting employees are leaving. Every week there's a new person leaving. I have witnessed harassment and bulling to others.

      Pros

Caring, proactive, great work environment. The employees are valued and treated well. The mission of the company is to ultimately save lives and educate.

      Cons

Processes are sometimes slow to change. But eventually good ideas come through. Upper management doesn't always show their presence.

An OK Job, But Not a Place to Build a Career

Nov 6, 2014 - Anonymous Employee in Sarasota, FL
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Flexible schedule, good health insurance with high employer contribution, consistent annual reviews with merit raises (cost-of-living - in the 3% range), off Fridays, generous severance packages.

      Cons

Poor and constantly changing upper management, frequent layoffs, and low salaries compared to market. Little opportunity for advancement. HR is disconnected and has minimal interest in supporting employees. There is a general atmosphere of paranoia and unhappiness resulting from years of layoffs. The company demonstrates very little value for existing employees and has no problem getting rid of good employees who have years of company knowledge and experience just to save a few bucks.

      Healthcare- Great product, Horrible management

Nov 22, 2013 - Management in Sarasota, FL
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Fantastic healthcare simulation product! Potential to save lives, and educate others to do the same.

      Cons

Guaranteed 80-100 work weeks, consistently berated by management, miserable outlook for future, no longevity, multiple layoffs, wrongful termination. All the best employees are quitting due to upper management.

      Management is terrible.

Apr 9, 2013 - Anonymous Employee in Sarasota, FL

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great industry. I work in the human patient simulation division, and the products we produce are great. Our company was bought by CAE two years ago and our focus has changed, which makes the mission a little less clear, but the company started with the idea of saving lives. How can you beat that?

      Cons

Management is unreal. There are quarterly layoffs, and upper management always has a new plan. The President announced in January at a Sales meeting, "there will be no layoffs, but I may fire someone before the end of the week." This was his idea of humor. Vacation and expense policies have changed retroactively. Salaries are low, but hours are long.

      Very disappointing.

      Pros

Generally, great people. I was part, for many years, of the original company, great leadership, great technology, great market, a tremendous potential. CAE acquired the company in 2011 and since then, everything has gone downhill.

      Cons

Upper Management has no clue, no direction, treat all employees without respect. Layoff are very common and always as a result of bad management - the interesting fact; management stays and employees are layoff. In summary, Management doesn't care. CAE stock performance is an embarrassment and a direct reflection of CAE leadership. HR runs the whole company - HR is the most powerful organization inside CAE. Employees cannot trust HR - it is like Initech (Office Space)
