I have been working at CAI full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I've been on board for a few months now, but I've known this company and it's CEO for over two decades. This is a company that wants to help it's people have challenging experiences and grow professionally. The work exposes you to lots of client sites and lots of geographies. It is a great way to learn about the diversity of the pharma industry and to help clients solve really complicated problems.

    Cons

Travel is a requirement, but travel should be expected given the diversity of the work.

I worked at CAI full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    1. Great Benefits due to it being an employee owned company. 2. Professional development options are plentiful. 3. The company preaches a flat organizational structure, and that their Wildly Important Goal (WIG) goal is employee retention. 4. The CEO has great ideas and is constantly trying to innovate within the industry.

    Cons

    1. There is no flat organizational structure, it all depends on who you are working with as the company does not follow up or ensure that this is acted on. There are many levels of middle management between you and anyone in the home office. A lot of management will filter any and all necessary information you may need. Communication is very poor and will impact your ability to do your job efficiently for the clients...

    Advice to Management

Take the time to act on what the company values are said to be. If you want to retain your assets (employees) you need to treat them like assets and not chess pieces used to earn the company money and personal bonuses. Be transparent with employees, it only hurts the company when clients see that we cannot communicate efficiently and appropriately within our own company.

I worked at CAI full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

This was a great company. Most of the employees were great to work with and worked hard at their job. The pay was excellent and benefits were hard to beat. Since this was a consulting job, there was a lot of exposure to other great companies. Plenty of opportunities to get hired on elsewhere.

    Cons

Potentially lots of travel. Inconsistent job assignments due to the nature of the industry.

I worked at CAI full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

CAI can be a lot of different things to different people! It is the definition of a place where "what you put in... is what you get out." I joined CAI as a new grad (chem engineer) fresh out of college and leveraged a very rewarding 5+ yr tenure to take on a director level role at a client organization. > Worked on diverse teams (age, gender, education, etc) and developed friendships/professional connections with...

    Cons

CAI is a professional services company which has most of its employees working at client sites or remotely from home. This structure can inherently present tons of flexibility and opportunity for deep immersion into a variety of client organizations but can also present internal challenges with company culture development and mission realization.

    Advice to Management

Keep investing in your people, they are your greatest asset.... Double down on thought leadership initiatives and come up with creative ways to get as many people as possible engaged.
