I worked at CAL POLY part-time

    Pros

The Mechanical Engineering machine shops were a great place to work. All of the shop technicians are extremely knowledgeable and are willing to teach new employees new skills. If there was not any one that knew how to do something, we were all able to learn together.

    Cons

The shops are quite loud on the weekends

I worked at CAL POLY part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I got to pick my own hours and had a wonderful boss. The office culture was really nice. There were pot lucks once every couple of months.

    Cons

Even though it was a specialized job I only got paid minimum wage. Any break I took was deducted from my hours.

    Pros

Beautiful area in which to live.

    Cons

Salary is ridiculously low making living in the community and providing for family impossible. Salary step increases not given at this university.

    Advice to Management

Bring back step increases and value your employees who put their lives on the line every day to protect the campus community.
