    Pros

    Employee stock but it's not worth the abuse.

    Cons

    There are serious problems with management.

    Advice to Management

    Think about everyone not just the bottom line. The employees are people too, not things that should not be appreciated. People are treated unfairly, cannot go into specifics because it will be evident who it was. I do not want to name names. But if management reads this please consider your employees don't insult them, don't yell at them, respect them. Don't underhandedly do things behind their backs if you want them out.

    Pros

    Solid benefits, ESOP, flex time

    Cons

    Government push for butts-in-seats contracts is a race to the bottom. It means you're always one lost contract away from losing your job, CALIBRE is no different.

    I worked at CALIBRE Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Great co-workers at my level and below.
    - My manager was very open to ideas and allowed many people in our group to test our boundaries, grow our skills, and try out new processes.
    - Good benefits (401K, ESOP, vacation, etc.)
    - Generous with reimbursement for classes, professional organizations, etc.
    - Many opportunities to learn new skills and grow (though not always career wise)
    - Quick reimbursement for travel expenses (one of the quickest I've seen)

    Cons

    - Dysfunctional organization. I was bounced through several VPs and divisions while I was there, even though I never changed job titles. I was never quite sure which part of the organization I would be part of next.
    - Very poor compensation for the work. Leaving I immediately gained $20k in salary and everyone else I worked with did the same.
    - They go through Project Managers like most people go through tissues.
    - Nepotism is alive and well there. Saw multiple examples of it during my tenure.
    - Always asked for opinions and advice of staff, and then never used any of it.
    - Turnover was high and competent people were often let go for petty reasons.

    I worked at CALIBRE Systems (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Employee-owned culture is the best of any company I've worked at
    - A good majority of employees and management genuinely care for customer success and this solid teamwork results in consistent performance and repeat customers
    - Company pays for on-site client parking expenses (a nice perk for client sites in DC metro)
    - Flexibility to design one's overall career and training opportunities as long as you have a capable and caring manager.

    Cons

    - Slow to adopt trends or emerging customer requirements
    - Majority of portfolio consists only of DoD projects
    - Salary / pay raises are subjective as in most companies
    - Not a well-recognized brand outside local DoD community

    Advice to Management

    Add diversity to senior management team, including typical factors (e.g. non-military background, female, minority, etc)

    I think they try. ESOP.

    Cons

    It really may have been my own department, but I worked under an unfortunate chain of management. Couldn't see below them that their own managers were awful

    Advice to Management

    find out what is actually happening. Don't assume it's fine because you don't hear anything. where there's smoke there's fire!

    Pros

    Employee Stock Ownership Program. Job security. There's really a sense of community in the Calibre work force. Great place to work.

    Cons

    Not many company cons. Pay could be more competitive with the chance for performance bonuses but the contracts are budgeted.

    Invest in your employees success and your ROI will exceed your expectations

    Pros

    The corporate culture is very warm. If you want to enter government consulting practice, CALIBRE does well in the federal sector. The company has an employee stock ownership plan. There are many employees who stay at the company for more than 10 years and grow their stock very profitably.

    Cons

    If you have any previous record that might prevent you from getting a security clearance, you are probably not a good fit. Since most projects at CALIBER require a security clearance... In addition, not that many commercial opportunities are available.,....

    Advice to Management

    It would be so much better to diversify the project portfolio. I am assuming that increasing commercial projects has been a touch battle for the company. However, this is a necessary step to diversity the risk....

    Pros

    Friendly work environment, employee-owned. Management does an excellent job taking advice and acting like you are important.

    Cons

    Departments had conflicting data records. Didn't have an easy transition to a full-time job there.

    Need a single data source that entire company pulls from.
