    Pros

Flexibility, working in an environment where education, compassion and intelligence are encouraged. Some of the best human beings on the plant work for CAMH and I was proud to be a member of this organization. The work CAMH does has meaning and influence on a daily basis. This is an organization which surpasses the standards it sets for itself, and provides a level of care not matched anywhere else in mental health. CAMH is simply an extraordinary organization with wonderful clients and employees.

    Cons

Oscassional vicarious traumas, shift work, lack of advancement unless you complete a significant level of education (e.g. If you have not completed a PhD your opportunities can be limited in certian fields).

    Advice to Management

Shift work can challenging. Sometimes there is a lack of work/life balance as a result of the stresses of departmental demands. Other than that keep doing what you are doing. This is the best company I have ever worked for and I miss being a CAMHer.

I have been working at CAMH full-time

    Pros

    Great benefits.
Organization has a great mission and has grown a lot.

    Cons

Almost everyone is on a contract.
This department has the most terrible manager: no people skills, always gossiping with staff members who are her 'friends' and favoring them, unfair treatment to other staff members, and use derogatory terms towards patients, families, and staff.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your 360 reviews: Get rid of the terrible management and bring positive people and changes to the organization.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at CAMH full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to try out different clinics. Managers are great and the directors in the Professional Practice office are really supportive of our roles

    Cons

Documentation of clinical work seems excessive and does not always match with the clinical work being done. Spending more time documenting than providing service.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the stress on the front line and the impact of seeing so many complex clients in an environment where staff are losing their jobs because of funding cuts.

    Cons

-different work-life balance expectations from different employees

    Advice to Management

this company would benefit from efforts to streamline walk-in patient intake. There is an information desk but it is difficult to tell from the outside buildings where it is located. There should also be an emergency intake unit at this location as well.
