    I worked at CAN Capital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Launched my career. Enabled me to be successful and I had the best manager. My manager's strong, honest, and ethical leadership was paramount to my success. Corporations need to invest in such talented and dedicated leadership. Strong leaders like this develop strong teams.

    Cons

    Continual HR turnover, never knew who worked there from one minute to the next. They tout "transparency" but, we were blinded sided by the layoff. CAN went from one of the largest subprime lenders to a collection agency, pretty much overnight. So very sad.

    Advice to Management

    Sometimes, the little guys actually know what they're talking about. Hiring all the analytical teams and constant "think tanks" didn't match up to the front line. Look what happened. CAN was a giant and fell...hard. I'm not sure how they'll ever recover.

    Pros

    CAN Capital is complex and fast-paced. It's a place for people who are understand that no company is perfect and see opportunities to make a positive impact. Investments in leadership development and focus on employee engagement are slowly changing the culture to a more collaborative, employee focused environment. Overall top-down and down-up communication has improved significantly in the last 6 months. There are lots of opportunities to take initiative, be part of exciting projects and drive change at all levels. Technology investments are in progress and will transform the organization in the long run making it lean and highly effective.

    Cons

    Benefits package could be better. PTO plan, 401k employer match, lack of HSA employer contributions - are below standard. There is still work to do in breaking down functional silos. Physical work environment could use a revamp.

    Advice to Management

    Continue engaging staff in decisions impacting them and continue building trust within the organization: with senior management and cross-functionally. Ensure people related processes ( performance, rewards, benefits, culture) are aligned with new business realities.

    * Upper management is awful; poor communication
    * No job training
    * No direction or strategy

    Focus on the digitization of the business; get good people into the company and oust the very weak middle mgmt

    Opportunity to work on cross functional teams
    Being able to get involved with large projects fairly easily
    Great product very easy to sell
    Solid mission

    Cons

    Decisions can be made rather slowly
    Technology is dated but slowly improving
    Company culture is a little funky but a lot of changes have been made lately

    Advice to Management

    The strategy moving forward is solid and there will be great strides forward with technology shortly. There is a lot of low hanging fruit on almost all areas of the company. Hopefully new leadership will be able to guide the company going forward
