I worked at CARBO Ceramics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for. Management was great. Safety culture was top priority. Co workers were like family. Never dreaded to come to work.

    Cons

The only downside was the shift work, working nights and weekends, but the pay and time off made up for that.

    Advice to Management

I wish that Carbo Ceramics had their hands in multiple industries besides the oil and gas. I dont want to see the company go under.

I worked at CARBO Ceramics (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family atmosphere, clean and safe work environment. I always felt like part of some who truly contributed while working at Carbo and truly enjoyed my time there.

    Cons

The oil and gas market collapse has hit Carbo Ceramics hard and as a result, many who depend on the fuel industry have been put a risk to be out of work.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is to reconsider its approach to delivering bad news, when it comes to potentially separating or laying off employees.

I worked at CARBO Ceramics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A great company to work for...working there was like a big extended family with the emotional attachments.

    Cons

Swing shift is kinda rough....working in the elements though well compensated is rough...as it grows bigger it has become more detached at a management level.

    Advice to Management

Don't be so protective of management and remember all of your accomplishments are accomplished on your workers backs.

I worked at CARBO Ceramics full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The company is focused on their core business. Small company mentality. They care about their employees at all levels. Good communications up and down the line. Excellent opportunity to interact with other groups within the company.

    Cons

The company is focused on their core business. Although they have a flat management they are still very top down. There doesn't appear to be a lot of opportunity for career advancement within the company.

    Advice to Management

Although the company at times could not produce enough product, nurturing of other opportunities outside of proppant would help mitigate down turns in the oil/gas industry.
