I worked at CAT Financial full-time

      Pros

Great salary, benefits and work atmosphere. Company makes money in spite of the slow progress.

      Cons

Analysis paralysis on every project. Rehash decisions constantly. Very passive aggressive culture. Play nice and do not accomplish much is rewarded over meeting goals.

      Advice to Management

Don't let the past culture continue to allow below average performance get rewarded because they have been there for x years.

I have been working at CAT Financial full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Professional and comfortable work environment. Great amenities (gym, cafeteria, facilities). Most employees are positive and seem very content with their work life. CAT's employee retention is better than any company I've seen. There are always extracurricular activities and opportunities which makes building relationships easier. My manager is flexible on work hours and working remote. I work remotely once a...

I worked at CAT Financial full-time

      Pros

Good pay for a limited time some good people

      Cons

Are you popular as far as extracurricular groups are concerned?

      Advice to Management

Caterpillar Financial claims to be a high and mighty ethically and morally righteous company that lives by its “Shared Values”. The reality is that they are more than willing to throw employees under the bus that they feel are being paid too much. They fabricate narratives of incompetence to substantiate their termination of said employee. Keep in mind they got rid of me, about 12 months after my cancer diagnosis...

I have been working at CAT Financial full-time for more than 20 years

      Pros

      1) Strong emphasis on career development, 2) Amenities such as on site gym and cafeteria, 3) On site covered parking, 4) Recent trends of HR/management being more understanding and flexible with work schedules. Most work groups are able to work from home/remotely at least one day per week, 5) All managers within a certain work group meet to discuss your annual rating, so it's not 100% dependent on your direct manager's...

      Cons

      1) The College Hire (FFP) program. Too much emphasis is placed on college hires. They are given priority treatment and career opportunities over all other employees. Which is drastically unfair and unwarranted to all other employees who do have college degrees, but were not hired on through the FFP program., 2) Manager selection is chosen. No one has the opportunity to apply for a managerial position. Managers are selected/placed...

      Advice to Management

      1) Less emphasis on the FFP/College hire program, 2) More focus on developing ALL employees who demonstrate talent and leadership abilities, 3) Annual survey be sent to work groups to outline how their manager is doing. This would not only shine a light on faulty managers and problem areas, but would conversely shine a light on managers doing a wonderful job, while simultaneously revealing areas for improvement which...

I worked at CAT Financial full-time

      Pros

Benefits package; Exposure to international business settings; People; culture and values

      Cons

Lack of work/ life balance; most processes are manual causing inefficiencies; Deadline based environment with very little flexibility

      Advice to Management

Sr. Management should be more selective in their hiring of individuals for managerial positions — focusing more on finding leaders and not just managers. Mgmt. should stress to their selected leaders too focus on their employees at an individual level and realize that not all employees function the same way and each is different— intellectually; personably; productivity. Managers should have flexibility and communicate...

      I worked at CAT Financial

      Pros

Project based internship, able to present results in front of BEC, managers, and other employers. Nashville is a beautiful city, lots to do during the 9 week internship outside of work.

      Cons

If you don't get a good project your work may be tedious.

I have been working at CAT Financial full-time for more than 20 years

      Pros

Benefits and pay are excellent. The people are easy to work with.

      Cons

Able employees are often passed over for promotions and advancement opportunities to cater to younger employees who are hired in at grade levels that other employees worked years to achieve. There are inconsistent practices in posting of jobs and management just choosing someone for a job, in the ruse of career selection.
