I have been working at CAT Financial full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

There are opportunities at times to learn the financing business in several industries and countries. I have lived and worked with customers and Dealers all over the world.

    Cons

The company has decided to penalize long-time experienced employees by promoting new college hires that have been put in a college rotation program. Several long-time employees were given early retirement and let go to save on costs. The company does not follow its values in actions when it comes to employee retention and satisfaction.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. If you want to keep the best, talented, brightest employees they will have suggestions for improvement. Don't push them for speaking their mind and making suggestions for improvement. This needs to change or individuals will continue to leave.

I have been working at CAT Financial full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

Great facility. Like every other review - the amenities are great. Colleagues are in the same boat as you. The pay is too comfortable to leave when you have a family to support.

    Cons

Caterpillar Inc. as a whole, is a good company. Attrition rate for Cat Financial is somewhere close to 40% for people under 35. This isn't a statistic that can be scapegoated on the "millenial" generation. Promotions are based on quotas. Ratings are a forced distribution though the name is changed yearly to avoid the stigma. Time and tim again. people who create the most noise get the most reward when the people who...

    Pros

People are nice. Good perks with cafeteria. Good salaries.

    Cons

Working from home is frowned upon even though all of the technology we need to do so is provided to us. Politics. Lots of politics. Slow to adapt to new technologies.

I have been working at CAT Financial full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Great pay and benefits, massive 401k match, sinfully good health insurance, fun company events like United Way Week, volunteer opportunities. The company is full of overpaid, happy people. This makes it generally a nicer place to work.

    Cons

-Over 2 straight years of "cost cutting" while CEO still makes $10+ Million a year. Raises and departmental budgets have been slashed. Almost no money for travel, training or development, bonus checks are smaller than ever. -Glacial career development. Top talent is recruited from business schools and then placed in customer service, collections, data entry roles for the first 3-5 years of their career. -Lack...

I have been working at CAT Financial full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Cat has a great culture with decent pay. The hours are flexible and there are fun perks. Overall it is a company you can grow with if you're willing to.

      Cons

There are still some glass ceilings and old fashioned thought processes. The pay is just decent and mostly non negotiable.

      Advice to Management

Allow room for everyone in the company to do "rotations" and gain experience. Do a serious analysis of the benefits other companies offer so that you may adjust accordingly. Definitely reevaluate the Nashville housing market and adjust pay scales accordingly. Keep moving forward. There has been progress but Caterpillar still has opportunities to address before being considered a progressive company.
