I have been working at CAT Financial full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

    1) Strong emphasis on career development, 2) Amenities such as on site gym and cafeteria, 3) On site covered parking, 4) Recent trends of HR/management being more understanding and flexible with work schedules. Most work groups are able to work from home/remotely at least one day per week, 5) All managers within a certain work group meet to discuss your annual rating, so it's not 100% dependent on your direct manager's...

    Cons

    1) The College Hire (FFP) program. Too much emphasis is placed on college hires. They are given priority treatment and career opportunities over all other employees. Which is drastically unfair and unwarranted to all other employees who do have college degrees, but were not hired on through the FFP program., 2) Manager selection is chosen. No one has the opportunity to apply...

    Advice to Management

    1) Less emphasis on the FFP/College hire program, 2) More focus on developing ALL employees who demonstrate talent and leadership abilities, 3) Annual survey be sent to work groups to outline how their manager is doing. This would not only shine a light on faulty managers and problem areas, but would conversely shine a light on managers doing a wonderful job, while simultaneously revealing areas for improvement which...

I have been working at CAT Financial full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

The place contains the amenities of a luxury apartment complex. Dining services, gym, and a 7 level parking garage underneath the building are big perks for a financial institution basically located in downtown Nashville (midtown, but still!). The security is tighter than pretty much ALL the bank offices I've visited. And the holidays scheduled are more liberal as well. Example: the day after Thanksgiving! Srsly. Finally,...

    Cons

HUGE focus on the "family." Id like to say this was remedied by the nepotism rules recently enforced on a more strict basis, but this really only created more of a problem. Cat values the longevity of its workforce, and respects experience. This is great! ...if you're a washed up old dude or a micromanaging psycho who really has no business advancing into industry fields they have absolutely no idea how to navigate. Yes,...

    Advice to Management

Don't put people in management roles who have ZERO background in management and/or no college degree. Fire or demote micromanagers, because they just shouldn't be leading people if they can't inspire them. The new hires are highly educated and expect a high quality team of leaders. When they show up and realize that their support manager is a dinosaur with no people skills who gets upset if they're not at their desk for...
