    I worked at CAT Financial

    Pros

Good pay and benefits for area. Job security. Nice building. Some good managers

    Cons

Leadership directs your career, meaning they pick jobs for you that they need filled even if you don't like the work, or have the skills/experience for it. Sometimes it works out for you, sometimes it doesn't. If you get trapped in a role you have no business being in they make it very hard to move on by setting expectations beyond your capabilities and requiring great performance in your current role to be eligible to...

    Advice to Management

Let people guide their own careers. When it's clear things aren't working change course instead of spending more time and money on doomed projects.

I have been working at CAT Financial full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Great pay and benefits, massive 401k match, sinfully good health insurance, fun company events like United Way Week, volunteer opportunities. The company is full of overpaid, happy people. This makes it generally a nicer place to work.

    Cons

-Over 2 straight years of "cost cutting" while CEO still makes $10+ Million a year. Raises and departmental budgets have been slashed. Almost no money for travel, training or development, bonus checks are smaller than ever. -Glacial career development. Top talent is recruited from business schools and then placed in customer service, collections, data entry roles for the first 3-5 years of their career. -Lack...

    Advice to Management

Use the talent you have. Your problem is not attracting good people, but rather retaining them.

I have been working at CAT Financial full-time

      Pros

Work-life balance was excellent, and I always felt like they cared about employees well-being. Plenty of out of office events and networking opportunities, and management seemed pretty competent. Pay and benefits are excellent, and the upper level management are kind and take a real interest in your career development. Cat wants to hire people for life, which is both a good thing and a bad thing.

      Cons

Its an old company that functions like an old company. Technology is implemented at an unbearably slow rate, and adoption of older employees is even slower. Decision making is usually glacial and slow. Teams are often understaffed and there seems to be quite a bit of incompetence among some teams. Progression is often slow and opportunities come with lots of time.

      Advice to Management

Bring in younger staff (which they are doing) and continue cultivating innovation in your workplace (which they are also doing)

I worked at CAT Financial full-time for more than 20 years

      Pros

      Pay and benefits are competitive.

      Cons

      1. Most of the Glassdoor reviews are submitted by people who worked in Cat Financial's Nashville HQ, who rave about the great facilities. That is true. But outside of Nashville is a different story. Gym?? 2. Caterpillar has a program called "Making Great Leaders". However, what they really want are very good FOLLOWERS who drink the kool-aid and don't ask the hard questions. 3. Too much emphasis on Six Sigma....
