    I worked at CB&I full-time

    Pros

Balance of field and office time. Variety of potential field assignments.

    Cons

Management decisions from 2000 miles away with no regard for who (which employee ID numbers-as you are not people) they will affect.

I worked at CB&I as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

•pay was decent for temporary employees ($15/hr)
    •Flexible work schedule
•not many other pros I can mention- free coffee I guess

    Cons

•Management was terrible and wasn't interested at all in your career goals
•Some managers and the Human Resources department were horrid about responding to messages and keeping promises
•Male supervisor discriminated against your capabilities based on your gender. "Give her the easy work" was what you heard about female temporary workers
•Some managers didn't even have college degrees. And you could see it in the lack of their leadership and management skills as well as proper knowledge of engineering
•Disorderly and stressful environment with no clear directions for workers
•HR liked to hire temporarily then lay off engineers a lot after the company was done using them
•No clear system on who to report to if dealing with uncooperative and negative coworker

    Advice to Management

•All managers should at the very least have a college degree that would directly help them perform well. A high school diploma with a little bit of military experience will not help enough.
•ENGINEERING SUPERVISORS SHOULD HAVE ENGINEERING DEGREES (i.e. Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Chemical) as well as some background in supervising and training engineers
•There should be more opportunities for employees to grow-the CTP program is not enough and hires very few people
•Internship and assistantship programs need to be increased and be more consistent and aligned with the majors of the students.
•The employers need to be honest and straight forward and not lie about job opportunities that are not really available

    I worked at CB&I full-time

    Pros

Nothing positive to say about them.

    Cons

You will NOT get paid the salary on your offer letter. They're shorting everyone's check! I'm sure these people have stole hundreds of thousands of dollars (maybe even more) from workers. Payroll lacks the proper training to do their jobs accurately and efficiently. I'm sure they don't have any discrepancies with their checks though.

The staffing agency hires unqualified workers too. These jobs take a certain skill level and a certain IQ level to be done right. Many (including management) miss that mark. People are getting hired for skills they've never done (over those who apply and have years of experience and certs to back it up). Too many rookies equals an unsafe environment. It's NOT SAFE out there.

    Advice to Management

Fire the safety men, get a whole new payroll team, pay your workers ACCURATELY, go buy some integrity because you have none.

    I worked at CB&I full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Most of the people were nice to work with.

    Cons

Disconnect between top management and workers. Benefits lag behind industry standard. You must always be 100% billable- ridiculous!

    Advice to Management

Have meetings that include everyone and brainstorm. Listen to the people who are actually doing the work.

I have been working at CB&I full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There are no benefits of working at CB&I unless you like digging in trash literally for the boneheads in E&I. Absolutely the worst most mismanaged company I have ever seen and now they are headed for bankruptcy.

    Cons

Everything from the working environment to the morons who call themselves managers. E&I is a total disaster along with Capital Services. They won't be around for much longer.

    Advice to Management

    You're fired
