I have been working at CBRE full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Collaborative, fun, and engaging work on a small software development team within a large, stable organization. Our team prioritizes mentorship and personal growth. We use the latest (stable) tools and encourage the development and use of open source software to solve interesting, challenging problems. Leadership prioritizes transparency, and we have regular all hands meetings about the team's strategic goals and financial health.

    Cons

Our team is relatively new, so every once in a while we have some process/ workflow bottlenecks that can be frustrating. The plus, though, is that everyone on the team seems pretty committed to working together to solve those bottlenecks.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I have been working at CBRE full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is a culture of caring and accountability at CBRE Dev. The leadership cares about continual improvement as a team and as individuals. The work is highly collaborative and relatively low stress.

    Cons

Being part of a large company, the bureaucracy around HR and benefits can be a pain to deal with.

    Advice to Management

Please reduce HR bureaucracy and stop using vendored solutions for everything.

I worked at CBRE full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed working for CBRE for 8 years. My fellow co-workers were very kind and helpful. Getting access to training materials were very easy on the website and employees from other locations were always willing to train you in areas that you are weak. I would recommend this company to anyone.

    Cons

Getting a promotion is difficult. If you are great in the position that you are in then they will not help you move on to a higher position. You also work 9hrs per day instead of 8hrs.

    Advice to Management

Instead of hiring new employees to fill top job openings it would be great to give promotions to current employees who are hard working.

I have been working at CBRE full-time

    Pros

    • Great work atmosphere
    • Great people
    • Some benefits are better than others
    • True interest in developing people but career advancement is hard. THis impact raises of course.
    • They invest in developing and growing people.

    Cons

Culture could be better. A fast-paced environment can make some managers a little reactive and less proactive. Signs of this are micromanaging tendencies as they strive to avoid problems. Most senior managers and executives are not like this. I'm referring to mid-level management. This is counter to our CEO's goal of talent retention. CBRE does value human capital, but the message gets diluted at mid-level management.

    Advice to Management

Promote your amazing leadership programs and force these managers to attend.

I worked at CBRE full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Great big name brand commercial real estate company to have on the resume. Everyone knows who CBRE is.
-Great office space (at least where I was). All equipment, computers, furniture
and location was top of the line.
-Great training structure (if you are on the right team)
-Access to an insane amount of data and resources

    Cons

-Can be really hard to move up. The top producers really control just about everything
-Can be competitive and some seem to just look out for themselves (but this is at all brokerage shops). CBRE is pretty good in contrast to others.

    Advice to Management

Help the junior guys move up in the company more. Actually support them.

I have been working at CBRE full-time

    Pros

Excellent top rated company; fair and all business. CBRE is diversified and well balanced. There are multiple disciplines avaiable. Rated highly by rating sources.

    Cons

Cons are few. Teh company is diverse as stated and that can be an impediment to finding a match for your skills, although the job search system is very good.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work. Strategy development and transition to execution is a strength and definetely a string differentiator. Diversity is also a strength.
