I have been working at CBS Interactive full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - fun and positive place to work
    - supportive management
    - great work life balance
    - flexibility time and remote work
    - cool projects to work on
    - a lot of opportunity for improvement

    Cons

    - depends on your team, there's kinda politic going on, but with a company this big, this is expected.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at CBS Interactive full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing work/life balance. You will not work past 5pm unless you choose to do so.
    Good health insurance
    Flexible work schedules
Telecommuting options (some people are full-time telecommuters)
Nice people for the most part
    Food Truck Fridays
    Monthly happy hour
Monthly bring your dog to work day (Canine Friday)
Bring in good speakers on a monthly basis
Free yoga and pilates classes twice a week

    Cons

Inefficient, hard to get things done
Lack of clarity on roles and responsibilities leads to different departments stepping on toes
Experience varies tremendously depending on which sites you work on
Tons of people have been there 20+ years and aren't innovative
Comp is just OK. I was underpaid by $20-40k for my title and number of years experience according to several pay sites like payscale, glassdoor, etc.
Too many different work management tools that vary by group
No training. New people genuinely have no idea how to do their jobs and the more junior salespeople especially are lost and afraid
Several good, hard-working people got laid off while I was there and I don't know why but suspect it was "culture fit" or politics

    Advice to Management

Train people in how to use the tools that you expect them to use to do their job
Create better job descriptions and more clarity on who does what without overlap between departments
Be more agile and efficient. It takes forever to get anything launched.

I have been working at CBS Interactive full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good people, unique opportunities for learning.

    Cons

More employees are looking to quit than ever before. CBS Corporate is constantly eroding away the dot-com culture which once made CBSi a cool company. The new open layout makes deep focus very difficult and I believe this is having a significant impact for a lot of people, but it's impossible to measure at this point. Very high employee turnover means a lot of knowledge escapes, and when senior team members means 1+ years, it can be like the blind leading the blind.

    Advice to Management

Take some calculated risks, don't be paralyzed by fear (probably more applicable to middle management than senior management). A lot of the talented management already jumped ship, so that is one option.

    Pros

Great co-workers. Most folks are nice and fun to be around.

    Cons

Low pay. Lots of slip service from upper management. If you do a great job it means you will be expected to work even harder and out do yourself. Don't expect any bonus unless you're at some executive level.

    Advice to Management

    Take care of your employees.

I worked at CBS Interactive full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Exposure and understanding of how online media works; insight on how CBS works; you'll run into some good people and learn from them; good experience for someone starting out; and overall fair work/life balance.

    Cons

Compared to other tech companies, the benefits are sub par; compensation is on the lower end of most salaries in Silicon Valley; cliques; no mission or direction from executives; not much support from the parent company, CBS; and no innovation.
