I worked at CBS Interactive full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I had some great coworkers whom I will remain friends with. Occasional team outings were a fun way to get everyone together.

    Cons

The entire Client Services department (including the New York and LA offices on video) was called into a meeting room and given the news that the Planner position was being eliminated. We were given the option to apply for a few positions, but there were not enough jobs to cover the amount of planners being eliminated. The department had been in limbo for months, but we had always been told the Planner position was just going to be reorganized, not eliminated. So when we were called into a mandatory, urgent meeting (which was only put on our calendars that morning), you could imagine the feeling of shock and betrayal that was felt by not only the Planners and Specialists, but the Managers as well. Due to the way this was handled, I had already determined that this company did not value or respect me enough for me to want to stay. I set up a meeting with HR in order to discuss the severance package and the interaction I had was the straw that broke the camel's back, to say the least. During my one-on-one meeting with HR, I was met with no sympathy, and frankly no emotion at all. I understand CBSi is a large company and this was simply a business decision, but for someone in human resources, I would think they could muster up some empathy for someone who was just told their position was eliminated. She let me know that the severance was going to be one paycheck (two-weeks). Having already had a rough day, I got emotional as I was worried about having enough buffer time to find a new job. The woman in HR told me "This is a business decision, I am not losing sleep over this. If I were losing sleep, I would speak up and say something, but I'm not." And this came from someone who works for a company that tries to preach a culture of a friendly work-environment. Additional: - Very low pay. - The sales team treated client services like we were their servants.

I worked at CBS Interactive full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great co-workers. Most folks are nice and fun to be around.

    Cons

Low pay. Lots of slip service from upper management. If you do a great job it means you will be expected to work even harder and out do yourself. Don't expect any bonus unless you're at some executive level.

Thanks for your review. We are always looking to improve and take into consideration all feedback received. I’m sorry to hear that you feel you weren’t adequately paid during your time with CBSi. As you may know, there are several factors that go into developing and executing our pay philosophy and our goal is to reward performance at both the monetary and non-monetary levels. Although our total rewards packages are competitive in the industry, we do understand that for employers who pay is a top motivator, there is always an employer who is willing to compensate more. With this in mind, we do hope that you will consider CBSi in the future as we continue to improve.

I worked at CBS Interactive full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Most of the people I worked with were awesome. Going to work never felt like you were going to work.

    Cons

Horribly low pay for the industry. Upper management usually had no clue what was going on in the various divisions and made decisions that affected a lot of people without knowing the work that was being done.

Thanks for the feedback regarding industry pay. We value all of our employees (because, as your mentioned, they are awesome!), and want to make sure that we are fairly compensating. The HR team does yearly reviews of internal equity and compares against market standards, as well as internal compensation across the organization to ensure we are in line with compensation levels that we have set. This is a work in progress across our divisions and with this feedback in mind, we are continually looking to improve. Thanks again!

I worked at CBS Interactive full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Big name company. Exposure to multiple sales personalities (good and bad). Easy to move within the company. Quick stop position- one year maximum necessary before moving on. Any longer and you're wasting time.

    Cons

Not fully integrated to sales team, heavy workload for one person, lazy manager, low pay for crucial work. Everyone is important- except you, but they'll pretend.
