I worked at CBS (More than 3 years)

    Pros

CBS offers a fast pace, out of the box, creative environment. High achievers can make six figures- note, every market is different. Good benefits. Quasi glamorous but not everything that glitter is gold. CBS is a respected brand in news, sports, entertainment and radio. Some of my favorite people on the planet work there to this day or have worked there. The people can become your family. Hard work and loyalty is rewarded but not always overnight. But that's life.

    Cons

Can be high pressure: However this is not indicative necessarily to CBS. Its the industry. You need to be a highly social person, goal oriented and have a strong work ethic ( this is NOT a con actually in my opinion) and you must be able to handle stress in a fast pace environment. (These are qualities you have or you don't.) Great company but not a great company for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your people. Honestly I believe the local market manager and the management team in Houston does. ( Jury still out on the national/corporate folks however there have been changes there. Problem is that it ALWAYS trickles down. I can't speak about any other market as they are all different.) You have burned through some really, really good people unnecessarily. Again, this is indicative to the industry.

    I worked at CBS full-time

    Pros

It is a solid place to work and I felt my job was secure. Great learning experience as well.

    Cons

Entertainment types can have big egos and bad attitudes. I saw more yelling and hissy fits than was necessary.

    Advice to Management

I understand there is a lot of pressure, but there's no need to yell at people.

I worked at CBS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

meeting producers; meeting famous people; learning a lot about news and being onset; learning a lot!

    Cons

poor management; not appreciated; long hours; have to stand outside in all weather

    Advice to Management

There is a sexist energy that the managers on the NYC Page Program had when I worked there. They were very complacent as managers and I hope the situation has improved since then.
