    Pros

    Being a large company, there were a lot of engineering resources at my disposal. The benefits were good. They hosted a lot of meetups from the local programming groups. They also had third thursday's which is a social gathering with free drinks where the whole company gets together.

    Cons

    There was a lot of redundancy in the company. For instance, in ads, there were many different divisions doing ads. There was never proper recognition on the work you put into a project. Lack of standards and documentation meaning it seemed like every other division did things completely different from each other.

    Advice to Management

    Be more upfront with your employees. I shouldn't have to worry day to day whether I'll have a job to go to. There was never an overarching plan and it seemed that management favored some divisions over others. I felt my division was always given the short end of the stick.

    Pros

    Environment, Leadership team, benefits. An amazing creative team and of course, the CBS brand is solid. Also awesome community-based programs.

    Cons

    Slow to adjust, still has some corporate dinosaur people and policies. Commission is fair but should be higher. Still has some fat to trim.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to do your best.

    The exposure to set life and the inner working of broadcast media was amazing.

    Cons

    Lack of benefits, poor leadership, and low pay.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate more effectively and set out an efficient plan with reasonable expectations.

    Get to work with really smart people and contribute to high quality products.

    Cons

    Team are specialized (front-end versus back-end) so you may not gain a wide variety of experience.

    Pros

    - occasional parties and happy hours to help boost morale

    Cons

    - you had to fight for other roles in the company. i mean FIGHT. i had a manager tell me that he had other applicants coming into his office daily to try and secure the job in question. i guess applying, interviewing, checking in and prior experience with the company meant nothing.
    - very political and you basically have to know the right people to get anywhere.
    - sales people threw their weight around and barked orders

    Pros

    Fantastic corporate culture. Through many years of change, a genuine sense of teamwork has always persisted.
    Despite a complex business, departments and teams are managed in such a way as to create a sense of place and purpose.

    Cons

    It can be difficult to convince upper management to change, even when data exists to support such a notion. This might be a function of the complex nature of the business: for every analysis that can be done to support one conclusion, it's often possible to create compelling arguments to the contrary.

    Take risks.
