    Pros

    - Fun industry to work in, especially for those who are passionate about sports - Free parking at head office - Cafeteria and gym on site - Great coworkers who have the best intentions for the organization

    Cons

CCM used to have an incredible corporate culture with dedicated employees who had the company’s best interest at heart. Employees looked forward to coming to work every day, were excited about the future and worked as a team. Unfortunately, things have headed in a very negative direction since the appointment of CCM’s new CEO in 2021. Many employees have resigned due to the toxic environment and lack of strategic direction faced by the organization. The CEO addresses employees on quarterly Town Hall calls and spends the majority of the time detailing how authentic and open to feedback he is. In reality, if you provide him with feedback or respectfully challenge him, he will manipulate you behind the scenes. Many of the members of the executive team have zero integrity and are in it for themselves. Diversity and inclusion are main corporate pillars, but the CEO has fired all female executives over the course of the past 9 months. There is only 1 POC on the executive team. Actions speak louder than words. If you are considering joining the organization, do some serious homework and ask questions before jumping onboard.

    Toxic environment

    Jun 9, 2022 - IT Department

    Pros

Only pros was discount on hockey equipment. Outside my IT department everyone was amazing but various upper management at other departments had similar toxic culture.

    Cons

Management and leadership promote a toxic environment in the IT department. Distrusts, disinformation and negativity on a daily basis. Too many managers for staff. Management outnumbered employee ratio. No room for inovation or growth. Management was afraid employees would outgrow and outsmart them so attempts to keep them in the dark used as tactic to prevent career advancement. Bullying and intimidation tactics used by Director and management.

    Complete lack of direction

    Mar 22, 2022 - Operations

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Cool industry and some really nice people on staff, excellent product.

    Cons

Petty power struggles, lack of professionalism and direction at the executive level and really no direction at all. C-level just heap banalities at staff during so-called town hall meeting a where they make a sorry attempt to say the right things but can’t even manage that. CEO spends 20 minutes per call detailing how “authentic” and “real” he is but is probably the phoniest guy I’ve ever come across. Huge talent in product area is wasted on a disastrous operations setup which is a huge shame. Combined with low salaries, it’s a perfect recipe for massive turnover which is what you see. You’ve either been working there for 30 years or you won’t last a year, it’s surreal at times. They hire people from various industries to say they want to change the way they work and then spend their time telling those same people “that’s not how it works in this industry“ completely pointless. Return to the office policy was the exact opposite of everything the working world is doing now.

    Avoid like the deadly plague

    May 20, 2022 - Manager

    Pros

CCM people (excluding ceo and executive team) passionate, dynamic Gym

    Cons

A ceo who managed to overthrow the most talented executives with more experience and intelligence than he can ever dream of, a repeated coup with no reason , all through lies , manipulation and political maneuvering that was only for his own personal power and control over employees . At the onset , he promised a place where he would care about the people, allow for mistakes , focus on culture , only to juxtapose himself with the former CEO as if to imply he would be better . But since then he only delivered control and distrust of employees -employees that make up the fabric of CCM’s success and reputation - he has shown only egoism , lack of leadership, and promoted inexperienced people to the wrong roles, ignored and dismissed those with talent, drive, and a deep understanding of the business . He is inhumane , agressive and has established an autocratic rule with the few he trusts who don’t threaten his existence . The best talent has either left or about to leave and he can’t see beyond the end of his tyrant smug nose to even recognize it. He keeps having to tell people he is going to walk the talk, but one wonders why do you have to keep saying it ?? Why are you not delivering ? Everything he accused the former CEO of being , he has personified , which leads me to believe he made up stories and a narrative that was just a reflection of himself, the devil incarnate. I wonder why the equity firm has allowed for a man who doesn’t seem very intelligent, who continuously asks irrelevant questions that often make people think if he knows anything at all- even in his own expertise in finance . The people are what make this company, but it is currently imploding - the best talent already gone, and those with lack of knowledge and skillset running the show . The place is incestuous with who gets promoted , who is absolved from wrongdoing , and who gets recognized . It’s all about control and power , and promoting a dictator’s propaganda . He keeps pounding the message that he cares about people and culture - on the contrary , everything he says he actually means the opposite . It’s unfortunate because this is a great brand, in fact most of the previous executive team that this current ceo has managed to overthrow , are who made the brand sexy and cool; the product got better , we got smarter , faster , and more attuned to our customer - all those leaders who actually cared and had experience in this business are now gone because of his lies and insecurities . He rejects anyone who has a dissenting opinion, in fact he ensures their dismissal. He is so backwards from what leadership should look like today in an age of diversity and inclusion , respecting people and human connection. Tone deaf to post pandemic workplace culture , and oblivious to the impacts of the great resignation. I started to distrust this company when I saw how backstabbing at the executive level became an art form, evidently it trickled down to the lowest levels and it only protected those that had something to gain from joining forces with him and his allies. The only talent he has is that he is an illusionist that panders to the weak, while unmasked he is impertinent to talent, ostentatious and more importantly and most frightening of all -incompetent . How does a Machiavellian leader get chosen , in a time, especially as we come out of pandemic , when leaders are being urged to be more more empathetic , humane and inclusive . How does Birchill not see the destruction bestowed by making him CEO ?

    Company on the decline

    Apr 2, 2022 - Analyst

    Pros

    Employee pricing on hockey products

    Cons

This company has changed for the worse especially in the last year. The culture of authenticity is a sham to take the attention away from overall inexistant values. They claim to empower employees, but even that is fake news. There are so many loyal employees that left in the last year that the only thing you are empowered with is to do 2 jobs because they never bother to hire for the jobs of most of the people who left. When there are town halls most of the people chuckle at all the authenticity talk and cheesy values. The high number of departures is like a turnstile at grand central station, so if it was such a great place to work, why would they leave? The company is on the decline and the competition will leave us in the dust.

CEO is running the company down to the ground

    Apr 19, 2022 - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

    - Passionate and friendly people (for the most part) who truly like the industry and the sport - Cool industry - Employee pricing on hockey equipment (skates, sticks, gloves, etc.) - Depending on your team, department and manager, there can be a good flexibility in terms of work hours. - Some roles are great for those starting out (ex. entry-level jobs)

    Cons

    - Marrouane Nabih, the current CEO, will be the downfall of the company unfortunately. Not trying to be mean, but I personally found him petty, unprofessional, not suited for his position, and somewhat childish. Not focused on the right things and not open to change. For example, he focused on changing and revamping company values, emphasizing on trust, authenticity and flexible, yet forces employees to come back to the office 4 days a week (the rationale behind this: this ensures that employees actually do the work they need to) - talk about flexibility and trust... Speaking of values, every town hall ressembles a 45 minute speech where he mentions over and over the brand new values and how "authentic" he is, but to be quite frank, he is probably the fakest person at CCM. In fact, it's almost a dictatorship - Agree with him and his ideas? You're in his good graces. Make the mistake of standing up to him, constructively voicing your opinion, and not be a "yes-person"? He and/or his senior management team made up of "yes-man" will make sure you know it and make you feel like a nuisance and not a team player. One must wonder why the entire HR team voluntarily left within a couple months... - High turnover in all teams (therefore, loss of knowledge and overworking of employees left), despite considering the "Great Resignation" period every company is going through. - Compensation: salaries are on the low-end, even with the yearly bonus. Employer matching to the pension fund (up to 5%) - which is nice. - Vacation and time-off: not as competitive as other companies. Needs to be revamped. - Diversity: mostly male and white dominated. Same goes for the Senior Leadership team. - Back to Office policies: not adapting to the current pandemic situation - most people would be more responsive if it were more flexible and trusting in current employees. - Some managers are very competent and try their best to have their employees succeed, but others... oh boy, it's the complete opposite - overwork their teams, are scraping by, not willing to work with others, and some are downright just nasty.
