Good initial pay, organization and training. Was able to work from home and do lots of different kinds of work over several years.

    Cons

Subsequent raises and COLA adjustments are difficult to come by...but not impossible.

    Advice to Management

Raises and COLA adjustments are among the most important ways to prove you are investing in your people.

    Pros

Steady Employment; cutting edge technology; national defense; competitive pay & benefits; local employment; community involvement; opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Cons are the same as working anywhere else: attitudes of some people can make working environment uncomfortable.

    Advice to Management

Provide venues to improve the "con" mentioned above without threat of discipline - i.e. fair and open discussions & treatment at all levels. Promote environment to ensure job satisfaction and teamwork for best production of the product.

I worked at CDI Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was a former Engineer at the Phoenix location (aerospace division) before acquisition by Belcan. Upper management (only the Engineering Manager and former Director) were great people. They would always have a positive attitude towards employees and would maintain constant communication with employees. I appreciate the employment opportunity.

    Cons

    1. Terrible employee culture and values
    2. Employees would make comments targeting specific ethnic groups (african americans) and minorities
    3. Employees would openly express their political views at the work place with offensive comments for anyone that disagreed.
    4. Zero opportunities for growth at this company. Resources were extremely limited and a negative attitude towards new hires by other employees.

Note: If you think that you are superior because of your ethnicity and political affiliation then this is the right place for you. Only the individuals with the same metality have stayed at this company.

    Advice to Management

I hope this is eliminated by the new acquisition.

I worked at CDI Corporation (More than 8 years)

    Pros

They have some amazingly talented people working on the ground level. Too bad they don't acknowledge at the Corporate level most of the time.

    Cons

The company bases its pay scale structure on how much it can bill the customer. As a result, whether you get a raise or not is not based on if you deserve it or if you have earned it but rather if they can get more money out of the customer you are contracted to. If they are unable to get the increase in billing they want, it is highly likely you will not see a raise. Sometimes the difference between what they bill the customer and what they employee makes is huge, depending on the customer, contract, etc. Managing employees in an environment where hard work and dedication are not appropriately rewarded is beyond frustrating. Having a very inconsistent and very muddy pay raise structure is debilitating to building and managing a strong and healthy team. Lastly, their main Corporate office is very disconnected from the rest of the organization. As a result, they make narrow minded decisions that often negatively effect the people in the trenches.

    Advice to Management

Figure out a way to implement a much more stable and predictable pay structure.
