I have been working at CDK Global full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great colleagues, good team dynamics, drive and enthusiasm exists in key departments and changes are coming into play with a clear strategic direction from the top down.

    Cons

There are some who have been in the org under previous ownership who do not embrace change and are failing to get onboard with the direction being pursued. There are some true stars within the business who need to be recognised more and given the chance to grow further.

    Advice to Management

Basically we need to get rid of the dead wood, long gone are the days that long service prevails regardless of performance. Accountability is key and everyone should be held accountable for their contribution to the business.

Office is moving from SODO to Lynnwood slowly bit by bit - Yuck

    Advice to Management

    Keep the Seattle office

    Pros

The Cobalt Group was a great place to work. I started my technical internet career there and really enjoyed my time. I learned alot, the customers liked working with me and it was an all around good experience. Cobalt has a great benefit program, they have the gym on the 2nd floor. They only hire smart people and the management staff is focused on growing the business and growing the employees. If you're looking for a great company in the Sattle area, then this is a place for you to work.

    Cons

There were no downsides to working at Cobalt.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing and this company will go far!

    Pros

Very innovative and up to the minute technology wise. Great Bennies and opportunity to make some cash!
Cobalt is very family oriented. Faith, Family and Job are the considered norms. Safety 1st with regards to the weather.
In some cases you can telecommute. They are very generous with time off and there are several ways to increase your income.

    Cons

Too many old timers that are afraid of change. Once change is reconized it takes ion's to get the ball rolling. Management will tend to turn a deaf ear to an innovation or idea that has been previously shot down even though the change is necessary. Lack of recognition when you are the one that came up with that idea.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people in the trenches.

    Pros

It is a play hard, work hard environment and we have quarterly team outings, beer 30 on Friday's, very casual dress attire, and overall the people are fun to work with.

    Cons

Although the number of accounts most of us have is high, it comes with the territory and I really do believe managers know this is a challenge and are working on it, but we would like it do be sooner than later.

    Advice to Management

Continue in getting employees more engaged.

    Pros

Over the past 4-5 quarters Cobalt senior and middle management have been upgraded through inorganic hires and reorganization. I think this has created new energy in the company that just wasn't present in the first half of 2008. Subsequently, the new hires that have been coming aboard in the past year seem to be high caliber and they in-turn are attracting the same.

The structure of the company changed too, it's now organized around centers of excellence. This, IMO, seems to have brought more focus to the respective groups.

    Cons

Cobalt feels like a start-up company, great ideas and plans for products and services in a large and growing market, but the company has many customers and support obligations. Not sure this is a downside of working at Cobalt, but projects are vetted and triaged closely, but maybe not closely enough.

    Advice to Management

More scrutiny on non-strategic projects should be applied. Taking a look at the older products and services and determining whether they can be phased out could free up resources.

    Pros

Benefits, Flexibility, Culture, People here are helpful and friendly. Community. It's really a great place to work no matter what position you're in.

    Cons

Salary could be better, has been better in the past with bonuses, blame it on the economy. The benefits plan could be better (it's one of those where you get a better rate the more you participate in the Wellness Plan.)

    Advice to Management

We need a core team of individuals who can make decisions and implement change across departments faster and with more authority.

    Pros

    1. Strong leadership team that has successfully created and grown multiple new product and service offerings with revenues over 10 million dollars each.
    2. Deep technical talent. Cobalt's systems are highly scalable and the technology investments are made to support doing with software what many companies do with operations head count.
    3. While successful in the past and creating a company sold to ADP for $400 million dollars, there is still a tremendous amount of growth available and Cobalt has the OEM relationships and existing dealership customers to take advantage of the opportunity.

    Cons

Traditionally the location was one of mixed blessings, providing cheap parking and great access to the freeways, but poor dining out options and the need to plan around baseball game day traffic. The company is moving to the international district at the end of the year, which will enable easy bus and train commutes and great lunch options at the downside of costly parking.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up.

    Pros

There were a lot of chances for promotion and growth! It's a very positive environment, and your managers encourage you to grow. They have programs for you to learn other about other departments, so you can see if that's an area of interest for you.

    Cons

It's gotten too big. After it was bought by ADP, a lot of the personalized and fun aspects were lost.

I worked at CDK Global full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Of course, there are exceptions in every business, but Cobalt only tends to hire team players.

    Cons

Their business has been strong, however, the cyclical nature of the automotive business could affect Cobalt in the future.
