    Positive Outlook

I worked at CDK Global full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Raises every year, well paid, excellent initial training, generally well supported as far as technological resources, management and HR.

    Cons

After initial training, relatively little training thereafter, frequently need to support software you've never seen before. Clients can be very frustrated in certain scenarios. Frequent ambiguity as to your role as a support person; you need to help, but you can't run things for the client, creates tension, sometimes even within CDK.

    Advice to Management

More frequently, regularly scheduled training to keep up with software changes.

    Pros

Free bagels on Monday, free coffee. They buy us lunch sometimes.

    Cons

Disorganized, low pay, employees who do poor quality work manage to not get fired, even when they have been reported to HR multiple times, managers who do not know how to manage, people who know how to brown nose get promotions while people with actual talent are overlooked.

    Advice to Management

Stop overlooking employees who want to move up within the company.

I have been working at CDK Global full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

ADP dumped CDK, and we got screwed.

    Cons

No job security, no direction from upper management, many layoffs of skilled experienced employees, resulting in offshoring of many jobs to India, and loss of experienced personnel to do the work. Customer service takes a back seat to the almighty dollar.

    Advice to Management

Realize the value of your experienced employees and what they contribute. Just because you can hire people in India for less money doesn't mean they can do the same job as those who have been doing it for years!

I have been working at CDK Global full-time

    Pros

There is some excitement surrounding the new implementation VP. There is also a lot of room for growth if you play your cards right.

    Cons

A lot of things are changing, and not all of the changes have been communicated to employees. There is a lack of confidence among employees about the future, and a feeling that it is better to get out on a high note. Additionally, in a move to save money, vacation, bonuses, and raises have all been slashed, while hours and expectations have grown. Corporate politics is also HUGE here.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with employees and streamline processes more efficiently. There is a lot of waste going on.

I have been working at CDK Global full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    + The opportunity is huge
+ There are still some really smart people working here

    Cons

+ CTO. Along with others I've worked with, I've experienced phone call threats about firing others if XYZ didn't happen, meeting tantrums, and most importantly major directional decisions that don't reconcile with what anyone in the trenches is experiencing.
+ Micro-management. Sr. executives with no detail are often solutioning rather than trusting the people they hired to solve the problem.
+ Company appears to be driven by hedge fund investors. Look at the financial statements and make your own judgement. My impression is that they've borrowed over $1b to buy back extremely overpriced stock. Good luck trying to find anything close to a value investor interested in CDK, this is all about trying to make some fast money at the top of the food chain.

    Advice to Management

Get a CTO with adequate experience, who understands how to identify, motivate, and get the best out of the technical resources. The new CTO should also finally address the pockets of engineering incompetence are holding the company back. Stop spending money on hackathons and tech gatherings -- the rah rah emails after sound great but I challenge anyone to find actual profit or future benefit that results from this. Reduce overhead and bureaucracy, and start trusting the judgement of people you've hired to get the work done.
