I have been working at CDW as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone has been so nice and welcoming to the entire intern class. They have been so willing to open their doors to us and allow us a peek into their world as Account Managers to give us the best experience as possible!

    Cons

With some of my intern counterparts at other companies, the pay does not stack up as well, but the doors that are opened are worth it!

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, the culture is awesome and a great place to work at!

I have been working at CDW (More than a year)

    Pros

I have had two surgeries in less that two months and my managers and have been supportive through the entire process.

Great training program. Candidates with no sales or technology background, but have a willingness to explore new opportunities can be very successful at CDW.

    Cons

Processes can always be improved. Sometimes it's a challenge to find answers. A mentor program for new employees should be considered. It can be intimidating asking questions when it interrupts coworkers. This should be included after on boarding.

I have been working at CDW full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great environment to work in overall. CDW has an abundance of resources that are easy to engage with and learn from. There is a real sense of family at CDW.

    Cons

The BDM positions are funded and therefore have multiple groups of people internal and external to answer to, potentially pulling in all different directions making for redundant workloads. There is a real sense of family at CDW :)

    Advice to Management

Take the feedback given from your employees as constructive and use it to make them more efficient.

I have been working at CDW full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay if you work hard. If you efforts are high, you will get rewarded by getting assigned larger accounts that may make you more $. Perks such as cubs suites, fancy dinners, blackhawks tickets are frequent.

    Cons

Compensation in the beginning is a joke at $30K base... but in years past, you raise to six figures within 3yrs if you are driven. Recently, CDW has decided to scale back on the spiffs causing compensation to level out and decrease to meet more of the industry standard. This will likely more many high producers to look elsewhere as they have built a life on being compensated generously for high performance.

    Advice to Management

Don't cap spiffs. Or, if that is the route that the company chooses to go, raise the base salary to meet the level of output an individual brings to the company.

I have been working at CDW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Depending on what department you work in, work from home flexibility is nice. Relaxed dress code, company outings, free food most of the week, and coworkers are encouraged to volunteer. Top rated veteran employer.

    Cons

Salary starts low and vacation is outdated. They don't really negotiate on either, so take that into consideration; you won't get paid and you won't really get time off. Sometimes feels like a frat house, which can make you feel out of place if you're not a "bro." High turn over, pretty much across the board, so it can feel like you're on a sinking ship at times, when lots of people are leaving.

    Advice to Management

Stop brushing off coworker survey comments regarding salary and vacation. It's no just a typical complaint, CDW is below industry standards almost across the board in these areas. While sales is the major factor, don't forget that ALL departments and coworkers are needed for sales to succeed.
