I have been working at CDW full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits. Leadership makes themselves open and available to their employees. Friendly environment. Lots of room for growth. I never feel like I am out of the loop on anything going on.

    Cons

Pay is a little below the medium for warehouses. Getting in there is difficult because most people stay there once they are hired so you either need to know someone or go through being a contractor.

    Advice to Management

Not yet, but if I did I know they would listen to me.

I worked at CDW full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

pastries every Tuesday. I know, that is pathetic.

    Cons

I have been there nearly 17 years. I have a laundry list of complaints which includes pay, coworkers, management from the very top to the bottom.

    Advice to Management

How about a higher pay rate instead of the "competitive salary" rhetoric that we keep hearing. Such ambiguous language makes for an unhappy employee. Competitive salaries fall into a bell curve. Why should CDW coworkers be on the lower end of that "competitive" curve?

    More can be said.

I worked at CDW full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Variety of work was deep and offered marketing employees the opportunity to learn/use new methods and tools for marketing the solutions CDW sells.

    Cons

Some "Old Guard" supervisory-level employees have a tendency to make working there a popularity contest.

    Advice to Management

Move your supervisory-level employees around within the organization, teach them how to be motivating and supportive to those they manage. Recognition and monetary rewards are better solutions than free bagels and ice cream.

Accounts give to a few on the team, the rest of the team struggles, small starting salary, churn and high turnover, small starting salary, CDW takes a piece of every dollar made somehow, management plays favorites (if you're liked you make money, if not you suffer), big management bonueses off of your work end of year (you get a couple $$$), micro management, petty office politics, minorities have a rough time making…

I worked at CDW as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was working out as a full time configuration technician. For the first couple of months I was ecstatic that I would be performing something that at least needed an A+ cert. The workload was pretty constant and I was mostly preoccupied helping out the team. Pay is slightly higher compared to the retail industry, but slightly lower when compared to more entry level IT positions. A lot of people that work there are pretty nice as well, I had no problem with that.

    Cons

A lot of this work can be accomplished by someone who is training for the A+ cert. 10-11 hour shifts occurred pretty often when it was a busy season, and the schedule was a standard weekday format. There was absolutely no flexibility in changes whatsoever. When orders died down, management somehow thought that the workload would exponentially increase, so they hired more contractors with absolutely no experience with working with computers. Sad thing is, these contractors had higher wages than those with experience. That was a big let down.

    Advice to Management

Please reconsider the staff needed to work these positions. There was too much redundancy occurring late into my contract.

I have been working at CDW full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

CDW respects and treats its employees very well. It is a place where work can be enjoyed and your contributions are appreciated. My friends often comment to me about how well I am treated at work and how positively I speak of it.

    Cons

There a very few cons to CDW, but the main one for me is that I don't believe the 401K is remotely competitive for comparable sized companies (or even smaller sized companies for that matter). The 401 K match is lowest I've seen in my career.

    Advice to Management

Reconsider the lack of weight in the overall benefits geared towards the 401K. Aside from that keep up the great work.
