I worked at CEB full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Great job out of college to meet new individuals who are your age
-As you grow in the Account Management path- you travel more which gives little work life balance

    Cons

-Management tells you what you want to hear. They do not care about your career path or growth
-You are basically a scheduling assistant for an Account Manager

    Advice to Management

The San Francisco Office as a whole is basically one big party, there is no sense of a professional company. There are never any management folks in the office because they are always traveling or have their door shut. They have absolutely no pulse check on the happiness of their staff which is why most of their teams are leaving even post acquisition. There are probably only a hand full of folks in the office that are over 30, otherwise everyone is in their 20's, which makes it hard to learn and grow. If you don't want to be in sales, don't come to the west coast office, those are the only jobs out there

I have been working at CEB full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-good place to start out in the working world for entry-level employees in terms of learning the ropes of a corporate environment and the way a large firm operates.

-can be a fun environment depending on your team; although many perks have disappeared since revenue has been stagnant

-great work/life balance in most areas of the firm; once you leave for the day, you are often not required to check email/respond

    Cons

-extremely bureaucratic; management is not always transparent, especially regarding impact of the recent acquisition by Gartner

-difficult to be promoted -- very easy to be stuck in a role for 2+ years (especially entry-level) since they won't promote unless there's a demand for a role (exception being Sales)

-difficult to give managers feedback since there is no way to do that through the current review structure -- why can't direct reports give feedback on their managers to upper management?

-compensation is significantly lower than other firms except at upper management levels - don't expect to be compensated at the same standards as other consulting firms

    Advice to Management

-be more transparent with employees; it makes it hard to come to work every day when rumors are swirling around about what's happening behind closed doors.

-give lower level employees a better shot at moving up; and better compensation.

-allow employees to review their managers in current

    Pros

    Fun, young culture
    Clear path to promotions
    Lots of free alcohol

    Cons

You work 9 hour days, but they only pay you for 8
Promotions are performance based and your performance is dependent on who you're managed by

    Advice to Management

Get a better system in place where promotions are an equal opportunity for everyone

    Pros

Tons of training and experience right out of the gate

    Cons

advancement is possible, but slow. Less about your ability and more about jumping through hoops after certain periods of time with a lot of your peers.

    Advice to Management

Allow leaders to advance their staff based on capability, not just waiting in line with everyone else for your turn.

I have been working at CEB full-time

    Pros

Great place to work; pretty great benefits--particularly with regards to parents/new parents.

    Cons

Can be difficult to manager work-life balance in some roles.

    Pros

    The people, benefits, the work

    Cons

Lots of change following acquisition by Gartner. Very poor communication and info sharing right now. Attrition is (predictably) high.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on retaining the CEB talent that is still there.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at CEB full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The culture tries to grow your career and proactively looking to what to do next. They have a great package when they lay you off, they do know how to take care of employees they are letting go, which they seem to do every year. They are pretty open about working remotely and leave the management to functional groups to those managers.

    Cons

The objective-based review process is a train wreck which is pushed by HR and not followed through by many in the company. It uses up a lot of time with little payback. The CIO build a large development shop in Chennai and has moved most development operations there. Because so many companies have been acquired in a short time communication between these groups is lacking. There is a lot of lost opportunity there

    Pros

Fun workforce that hires a lot of driven sales people. Can make a good amount in bonuses if you have the right support staff.

    Cons

Support staff is lacking, which can impact your yearly bonuses and success. Much stronger support for internally promoted people than external hires.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you are giving everyone the support they need to hit goal.
