I have been working at CG Commercial Finance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Company was built organically and essentially family-owned until middle of last year. So a lot of management has been there for years and are close and friendly. The company is really building upon an already strong portfolio to be honest. Lots to work with. Management across the board has decades of experience in the leasing world so its a major plus for someone who really is trying to sink their teeth in the industry. Very flat organization so everyone is pretty accessible and easy to learn from. Also, very good about going above and beyond for prospects, including flying out clients on short notice, so it really helps if you're trying to close a deal. Many employees have small children so really fair and flexible with paternity/maternity leave and time off. Again, not bureaucratic at all, pretty informal. Full medical coverage, and affordable dental, vision, etc.

    Cons

-Technology/CRM and system well behind industry peers, like well behind, making hitting goals an enormous challenge
-No official training program which may be the reason why there is higher turnover than there should be for an organization this size
-No marketing team, again limiting lead generation and making hitting goals a challenge
-Growing pains post-acquisition, organizational kinks that need to be worked out. Things sometimes fall through the cracks
-Not much transparency about overarching annual-5yr company goals and targets, which would promote buy-in by entire company and generate enthusiasm (i.e. higher purpose)
-not many company-culture building activities. Sometimes its more about an individual taking the initiative to organize a happy hour with their team or lunch of some sort

    Advice to Management

-Some automation is necessary in certain place to make hitting goals more realistic
    -Marketing (sourcing mostly)
-To solve the turnover problem, a defined and written 2 week training program should be mandatory for anyone hired to the sales team, regardless of experience. This may require hiring a trainer. CG is different than other industry peers.
-Realistic weekly , monthly and annual activity and goals should be outlined on paper for each sales role, leaving nothing to ambiguity and providing clear guidance.
-Keep up the good advice and sharing of experience and knowledge, its one of CG's best strengths

I worked at CG Commercial Finance full-time

    Pros

Nice office, location, snacks, flex schedule

    Cons

High turnover in sales since they give you dead accounts, no training, jack up rates so only but the most desperate drop you and then say you're not making enough calls, can't penetrate or lack passion. Everything is old too - super slow internet, old pcs, lots of old, junky accounts in old database. Lots of time spent waiting for approvals, docs, more approvals, waiting, waiting, waiting. Half your job is holding the client's hand while they wait as well. Clients don't wait and just take their business elsewhere then they blame you.

    Advice to Management

    Not listening so why bother

    Pros

Nice office space, free parking and snacks. Some professional employees.

    Cons

One of the most toxic work environments ever. Leadership and ownership have no business ethics or sense of integrity. Avoid relating to these guys if at all possible, misery loves company.

Might be worth paying attention to other posts and checking criminal records of owners.

    Advice to Management

Integrity is priceless, reputation among your peers will follow a company.

I worked at CG Commercial Finance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Free snacks, free parking and nice building. It's centrally located and close to major freeways. Clean bathrooms and nice outdoor eating area.

    Cons

Horrible comp plan! Do your homework on owners! Very deceitful. Horrible reputation in the industry. Substantial high turnover even though they may tell you otherwise.

    Advice to Management

This is a good one. It's like teaching an old dog new tricks. No need to tell them what they think they know already.

    Pros

Great opportunity for growth in both promotion and skills acquired. The management is stable and many have been here for 7+ years. They are open to new ideas and very supportive/encouraging. The offices are conveniently located and have fantastic views. The president is very funny and has a great team spirit. The CEO is hands-on and contributes a lot to the success of the company.

    Cons

Some days are long but they are flexible with our schedules
Benefits are basic and there is no pension

    Advice to Management

Please consider a monthly staff meeting to ensure clear communication. Sometimes it's harder than it should be to keep current with on-going developments/deals.

    Pros

Nice building and location, some good people work there.

    Cons

Everything about it from their quotas to micro-managing you.

It's all telesales, cold calling an outdated lead sheet without any formal training.
