When it's a great place to work, great work takes place

CGB prioritizes safety, training and development for all their employees. Leaders are easy to talk to and care about what is important to their team. Leaders also lead by example here! They are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and help which is rare to see. I have always felt respected, valued and that I have a voice that matters here. It is exciting to work for an innovative leader in the Ag industry and it gives me peace of mind knowing we offer great stability with our employment. CGB is a great organization to join early in your career because we are small enough to give you more 1:1 for your development but big enough to expand the skill set you need to continue to grow your career. However, no matter what stage of your career you are in we want you to contribute, grow and belong. So if that speaks to you we are the employer of choice for you! Annual bonus offered and a 401k plan that matches 50%. Plus you are fully vested day 1!
Cons
Benefits and Comp should be reviewed and updated annually. Medical coverage is an affordable monthly premium but could be costly out of pocket for major medical needs. However, it is a max of $6k annually for an individual so it is great to know it will never exceed that amount each year if something unexpected happens.

Family Friendly
Mar 10, 2023 - Anonymous Employee in Louisville, KYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
CGB is a great place to work. Senior leadership is very approachable and down-to-earth. They truly want to hear from and care about their employees. Being an entrepreneurial company, new projects, expansions of existing business lines and acquisitions provide ample opportunities for employees to grow within the company. My supervisor is very supportive of family needs and provides flexibility that works with my schedule. My manager sees the importance of working together in the office environment, while providing a weekly work-from-home option. This has allowed me to build strong relationships at work and still be present for all the important events at home. CGB offers great benefits, namely affordable full-suite medical, dental and vision and unmatched 401K program.
Cons
The company is actively working to improve diversity and inclusion across the organization. Working from home adoption has been slow compared to similar companies in the industry. Poor behavior by long-term employees can be overlooked at times.

Great Place To Start Out
May 1, 2023 - Merchandiser in Tulsa, OKRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great place to cut your teeth with grain merchandising. Good people to work with and an enjoyable office.
Cons
The money was pretty meh and top performers weren’t valued correctly. As I said it’s a great place to start out but opportunities do feel limited sometimes.

Work More hours for less money!
Dec 10, 2022 - Maintenance Technician in Jeffersonville, INRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Incredible amounts of overtime. That you don’t get paid fairly for. Don’t worry about a nagging wife or kids, because you’ll never see them if you work for CGB!
Cons
LOW PAY, accompanied by a horrible attitude from management about giving raises. LONG HOURS, extensive safety program that doesn’t apply to managers, only “the outside employees” oftentimes, you’ll find managers on weekend kayaking trips together, while yourself (the hourly employee) are at the facility, slaving away. Was told lots of lies about where my career would end up and how much money I’d be making, when I’d get raises, etc. was always told “we work so much overtime we don’t have to pay you more!” They hired in a guy with no experience and a hefty criminal record for the same rate they hired me in, because they were desperate. I’m a maintenance tech of 6 years experience with industrial automation, welding, machining and fabrication, conveyance systems, and a lifetime of farm experience. If you are thinking about working at CGB, don’t. Go find something else. There are companies out there that will treat you fairly, and pay you based on skill level and experience, not just time served. CGB is not one of them.
