I have been working at CGB Enterprises full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company provides good benefits (PTO, Health Insurance, Retirement) and has a good model for advancing employees.

    Cons

Certain times of the year require long, not regular hours.

I worked at CGB Enterprises full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

High quality colleagues who are friendly and collegial. People who do stay at the company or have been there for a long-time care about the quality of their work and the performance of the company Management is accessible and approachable, if not always receptive Large amount of responsibility and discretion given early and often in one’s career path. Strong internal tools and assets to develop a rewarding professional skillset Strong emphasis on customer service. The importance on providing excellent service to customers is genuine and the company strives to be a leader in this regard Solid benefits package. Insurance and 401k are good. Network providers are generally first-rate.

    Cons

Nepotistic corporate culture: too many husbands/wives, fathers/sons, siblings, relatives in the company. Sometimes working in the same department. The best career advancement opportunities typically stay in these same social circles Employees at headquarters look down on regional and field offices, preventing effective collaboration Few opportunities for advancement relative to company-wide talent pool Very little racial, ethnic, or gender diversity in managerial or commercial positions Below industry salary and bonus potential Poor work/life balance. Management has a ‘salaryman’ attitude about its expectations of employees. Long days, weekend hours during harvest are expected, with little regard for employee morale Incredible level of turnover. No other industry player has many continual job openings as this one. Training new-hires only to see them leave becomes demoralizing

I have been working at CGB Enterprises full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Rewarding to the employees truly passionate about their work. Has maintained a family like atmosphere despite huge growth over the last 3-5 years. Management works uniquely with every employee because not every employee is the same. The investment put toward development in people is second to no one because the result is a WIN-WIN.

    Cons

Let's keep these internal. While every company has them, CGB acts on them.

I worked at CGB Enterprises full-time for more than a year

    Pros

401k company match Strong financial performance company

    Cons

10 hour work days expected by management year round. Weekend responsiveness to text, calls and emails expected. Lean employee approach. Employees are expected to take on more with no monetary incentive due to tough times in the grain industry. Male “tough guy” fraternity culture. If you are not in the club, upward mobility is limited. Too small of a company for an abundance of career advancement opportunities. Most company locations are in undesirable deteriorating towns. Very little employee development from a direct report perspective. Work load can deteriorate health. HR department aloof, too busy putting out hourly employee fires.
