I have been working at CGI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is very good. The stock purchase program is decent.

    Cons

Where to start? Never have I worked for a company so internally dysfunctional. I am honestly surprised they make money. You can literally work here, get paid very well, and do nothing. It's impossible to get rid of underperformers as a manager, the only time people go is when a contract is lost. It's very aggregating to say the least!

    Advice to Management

Fix HR, your company is a charity to the underachievers. I've been in this industry for over 20 years, worked for large and small companies. Never have I come across so many inept people. Mind boggling!

I worked at CGI full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Some very bright and dedicated professionals doing right by their clients. Culture of open knowledge sharing.

    Cons

You get your usual politics at the top, however, some execs have really abused their power, sadly going totally unchecked by their leadership team and HR, at the cost of treating their workers with fairness and respect.
Separately, there is very limited mentoring and career development.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your people delivering for the client and expect more good leadership out of your top level leaders.

I have been working at CGI (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Feel good work environment. Nice office space.

    Cons

Seems to be going through a slow period, not getting any wins.

    Advice to Management

Increase oversight of VPs and Directors, cut the bull, make them produce or move them out.

    Pros

Great place to meet great Project Managers and learn from them.

    Cons

Must wait 1 year to be able to apply for a direct job. HR and CGI Management don't communicate with employees - they just care that you are billable. Company's benefits are not good.

    Advice to Management

Please be a great service leader to the people who take care of your clients. Don't ignore employees' inquiries or brush them off.

I worked at CGI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Intelligent and conniving senior IT management is well connected to D.C. federal government bureaucrats and politicians. (ie., CGI senior VP Toni Townes is Princeton '85 classmate of First Lady Michelle Obama / CGI Group Pres. Geo. Shindler was Obama 2012 campaign donor after Health Care Website award) .

CGI Federal's health-care is highly skilled at ballooning government projects with change orders for extensions, ceiling increases and fat margins on existing work without producing expected results and accomplished at deflecting repercussions.. (ie., Affordable Health Care Act website fiasco)

    Cons

A body shop operation with a very large turnover problem -- especially among younger personnel who lack experience but are on the low end on the wage scale (cheap bodies). Management is known to lie, cheat and steal as required for business growth objectives.

    Advice to Management

    Go back to Canada!

I have been working at CGI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits - not much else.

    Cons

You are only useful when you are billing - Once you don't have an engagement, there is a three week bench period, and then you are out. With some many financial commitments to mortgage and kids, you can't ever feel secure since you are entirely dependant on the client, or CGI's ability to keep them. Only take if you are completely desperate and then start looking for more security.
