I have been working at CGI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are many different projects with CGI all around the world, if one doesn’t work for you, more than likely another one will.

    Cons

Sometimes the job itself can be confusing because the clients require this or that, and the communication between the 2 can be confusing.

    Advice to Management

Keep having weekly team meetings and keep up with your own work.

I have been working at CGI full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large workforce, a lot of locations, global, great starter positions to gain experience

    Cons

Low pay, high turn over rate, often large lay offs, most employees don't make it past the 5 year mark.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to better align from the top down, vs instructions coming from the bottom up. Set goals and priorities, and see them through. Don't change strategies half way through because you think there is something better another way. Commit. This might be a large company, but learn your team members by name; learn each members strengths and weaknesses, so make a stronger unit. People are more than a number. Management needs to own their failures vs making the middle management or entry level members "pay" for thier poor decisions. It's not always someone else's fault, when management gave the orders.

I worked at CGI full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good network of projects, if one is flexible to re-locate or travel

    Cons

Managers/ Directors: Never meet you 1-on-1 because they have no time from doing their admin work. CGI does not harbor the culture

HR: You can never find out who your HR is in the system or unless you ask the account manager.

Career Growth: There is nothing called as career growth path, Managers don't know you, they know you only through client, and Managers do not work with you on any issue or provide any guidance or training. There is nothing you can do beyond becoming as a Sr. consultant

Health Plans: That was a best thing cgi had to offer but, its at least $10k OOP expense and spouse+ Kids on the plans, as the premiums are engineered, are highly discouraged. There has been a growing resentment amount the CGI members.

MSAP reviews : The managers do let you know internally that there is a chance CGI will find out who has given a bad review so, its an indirect way of controlling resources to not talk about issues.

Social engagements: These are all forced, and the pictures we see on social media are when consultants are forced to step out, take a picture, and none of the consultants have real relation or connection to the work/cause they they are pictured for. One of the biggest reason is CGI's focus is on external appearance and does NOT harbor any internal networking/engagements.

    Advice to Management

Please be in touch with your employees and find time to engage with them to understand what they deal with, work with them . Consultants will NEVER give you a real feedback when they are quietly told that MSAP and other surveys can be tracked.

I have been working at CGI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good new hire training program
Account team managers are very supportive when rolling onto a project in terms of getting you up to speed
Some opportunities are provided to show what you can do

    Cons

Needs a little bit longer training for functional new hires
    Provide more opportunities for advancement

    Advice to Management

New hires need to be able to afford to work for you, support themselves comfortablyou, and start saving. It's not very possible to do so on the entry level salary in a city like Fairfax. Especially for those who are not from the DC/MD/VA and end up moving to Fairfax or closer areas. Just something to consider for future and current new hires

I have been working at CGI full-time

    Pros

Tremendous company, vision, love the strategy and believe in the long term prospects. Check out stock price last 5, 10, 15 years, etc. we continue to run far at a steady but effective pace

    Cons

Massive enterprise - things don't happen fast and that is for a very good reason. Sometimes trust and faith in corporate doctrine required - you can fall back on the stock price performance all these years to give you some foundation.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be you - lead by example and through metrics and those of us destined to follow along successfully will see the right path. Thank you for your consistency and trust and faith in us.
