I worked at CGN Global full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I have had spent a long time at CGN. Managers and below really put their best effort and work really hard. They are always up for helping and ready to go above and beyond.

    Cons

Despite being a great team, no one is truly qualified to be a 'business' consultant. I think the easiest way to figure that out would to be to look at the resumes and background of the employees. Same applies to the senior management - most folks have stayed in the company for over a decade without any exposure or even a fair understanding of the market, competition and clients in general. Feel free to look them up.... They have a serious effort towards diversification of clients, but I think they first need to diversify the people and be open to a diversified point of view. They advertise themselves as the best management consulting company, and if they truly think they are and stand by it, I would recommend current and future clients to ask for references from past engagements.

    Advice to Management

We all need to make more money and climb up the ladder. I would advice you to not misguide, take advantage of and do that at the expense of employees who really work hard and are true to their jobs.

I worked at CGN Global full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Typical Consulting Experience, nothing outstanding compared to well-established consulting brands.

    Cons

Very unprofessional senior management in the company. HR totally a puppet. Lack of diversity in projects. Managers are are only good at promising but not delivering to their teams/employees. The company does not have a long-term view of employees, brings them in for cheap, and tries to get the most out of them.

    Advice to Management

Bragging about core values etc. doesn't go far as long as you have managers that act unprofessional and when employees don't feel rewarded. Successful companies are those that value their most valuable asset - their employees - and cultivate a dynamic culture within the company with respect.

    I worked at CGN Global

    Pros

-Accessibility to upper management due to small size of the company -Projects are good, but the management have no idea how to execute them. -Good opportunity to work for fortune 100 company and a good resume builder.

    Cons

-Senior management fails to keep up with their promises made to their employees. -They find ways to delay your so called promised bonuses. -No proper work structure or guidelines for any projects. Some of the senior management folks are clueless and have no idea. - 95% of the learning comes from the Client, and one doesn't even feel that they are into Consulting.. -Management to employee communication is bad.... HR is almost invisible or not there. -Employee dissatisfaction with the company is very high. Pretty much by the end of 6 months people want to leave. - Pay is below par, not even close to Industry standards, but the expectations from the mgmt is to work beyond 8 to 5 hrs and also over the weekend. - Senior Mgmt doesn't seem to have a proper vision for the company, even if they do, there are only few people.

    Advice to Management

Company will benefit if they follow standard processes across the board. Really need to define their role and do brand marketing, if they want to do consulting otherwise, they would be treated as contractors. Please pay your employees well, and recognize their efforts, and not see them as just warm bodies.

I have been working at CGN Global

    Pros

I would have to say that the recent previous reviews are a very accurate view of CGN. CGN is a small company that works with a single large client and presents a decent employment opportunity if you are really in need of employment.

    Cons

Overall, the behavior of CGN's senior management would be my biggest negative. From Guha down they are extremely disrespectful of employees and treat people like personal property. Even though CGN is based in the US, in actuality CGN is an Indian company. If you are not Indian you will be treated so poorly by CGN's Indian leadership that it isn't worth what you are being paid to be treated in such a way. ... There are very few billable projects available and because of this, although it sounds ridiculous, you are expected to beg managers for the opportunity to work on a billable project. This really opens the door for them to exploit you should they give you the privilege of working on their project. You can expect to wait around 2-3 months for any expense reimbursement so don't spend more than you can cover with your own money. Also, CGN changes health insurance plans every year to cut costs, unfortunately it's done in such a disorganized fashion that you will be without insurance coverage for part of the year.

I have been working at CGN Global

    Pros

    1. Small company in size and can get easily recognized for your work if politics are not a hindrance. 2. Great manufacturing client and looks good on the resume (resume builder) and helps you in the future for nailing big brand names in the industry. 3. Might get you an European exposure as they have some projects in Europe with the same client. 4. Hires quite a few talented, qualified individuals as employees... though they all leave the company in a year or two. 5. Approachability to the higher management because of the company size. 6. A step in the door to the consulting world for starters.

    Cons

Plenty to share...... 1. Really a stop gap company for individuals till they get something worthwhile..... 2. Really lack client diversity...though the website lists a lot of names 3. Horrible HR policies....no idea about employee concerns and issues. 4. Middle management and senior management is totally lacking knowledge and professionalism. They usually have no idea about the vertical they have projects in. 5.... Opportunity to learn in CGN is very limited for those individuals looking to learn and grow (80% of the learning is from the client, a great brand name). 6. Exploitative nature of the middle and upper management. No concern about work life balance of the employees and their personal time. Treatment to their subordinates by some managers is horrendous to say the least ( unprofessional, rude, non-political). Yelling, shouting by the senior management is a common scene. 7. Pay is sub standard in the industry and stagnant over a period of years. (Young graduates might get carried away by the lure of incentives but it can be taken away (stopped) any time.) 8. Since managers are clueless about the client needs, the consultants and Sr. consultants end up doing lot of non value added work and which may never be needed by the customer. This results in long hours for the lower level employees. 9. Very few fair managers.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees right. Respect their work-life balance and atleast pay them by the industry standards. Make it an organization where employees can grow rather than where employees are always looking for better opportunities.

    Pros

Good client Few good colleagues Average remuneration

    Cons

Senior management lie through their back teeth and make empty promises, both to consultants and client. Selling their consultancy services is more important than succeeding at your current project. You will be told there are more projects lined up when the current one is over, to keep you longer. As soon as it is over they will get rid of you by pointing you towards one of the clauses on their contract. They work... with an agency who sound very genuine but again have learnt CGN ways of use and throw

    Pros

International exposure, good project, good work atmosphere

    Cons

Gurgaon office culture very poor, senior management in Gurgaon office completely theoratical

    Advice to Management

You give us good exposure when we are abroad or away from Gurgaon. Too many reviews and too much of talking down and too little BD in Gurgaon. Please get a new person in Gurgaon office because BD/business/company growth/good work atmosphere is dependent on 1 person only. Good to see us winning new client in diverse industries.

    Pros

Global projects Good senior management in the USA

    Cons

India office is submerged in politics; Senior management brings outdated 1970 books and asks associates to read, while the others talk about theory of constraints. All theoretical. No one has operational experience. The senior management have damaged the organization, that associates leave as early as 3 weeks in the organization. If someone opposes their view, they are targeted in the QPA. A case is made on them and... they get harassed till they leave. Once they leave, they project as if they have been fired. The Senior management in India office talks only in the air. Very poor people skills, very poor management skills, very poor BD skills. Overall, India wing is a ship that is about sink.

I worked at CGN Global full-time

    Pros

I felt this was a good place to get exposure - In the very short time that I was there, had I not been roped in to do work for a wheels company and had to deal with one particular member of senior management, I would have stayed

    Cons

One particular member of senior management, located in north india is very hurtful and the bullying type while masking everything as coaching and mentoring

    Advice to Management

Focus on BD and re-look at Principals who advertise themselves as coaches but are actually bullies
