I have been working at CHRISTUS Spohn Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly staff, pay is decent, much room for advancement no matter where you start. Good benefits.

    Cons

Management is iffy, lack of communication through departments, tons of micromanagement, power trips, people operate more on a business scale than a patient care scale.

    Advice to Management

I would say we must not forget we work in an environment to better patients. Pay staff accordingly to the work they do, respect the ones below you.

I have been working at CHRISTUS Spohn Health System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some co-workers make it worth going to work

    Cons

Pay, benefits, no opportunities for advancement, high turnover rate due to people leaving to better work places

    Advice to Management

People are always late showing up for their shifts and are not penalized. Raises are a joke and people who have been working there for over 5 yrs make about the same pay as a CLS fresh out of college. Manager doesn't even want to try to get his employees the pay they deserve. Spohn pays the lowest out of the hospitals for CLS.

I have been working at CHRISTUS Spohn Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

a paycheck until can find a better place to work outside the network.

    Cons

Value the newly graduated and undermine anyone else. Become so focused on money while building a new building, not giving raises to employees and laying off people under the table while having just hired less expensive, inexperienced labor.

    Advice to Management

Live up to the mission and vision of respect for the individual. Get rid of the Clique of upper management who promote their friends after basically firing others from positions in the guise of position eliminations while in the meantime the end game to put your friends in upper mgmt.

You will learn a lot and get a lot of experience. Some managers are very good and helpful.

    Cons

Heavy work load and not enough resources to provide sufficient care. There is also a lot of miscommunication between departments. They don't care about their staff.

    Advice to Management

Care about your nurses and you'll be ale to keep more of your nurses

I have been working at CHRISTUS Spohn Health System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is great team work on the unit I am on. Everyone works very hard to help each other with patient care. You are able to pick your own days to work.

    Cons

Equipment is always broken. Management is never present and bias at times. Communication between night and day shift is non existant. Employees are rarely given raises. Employees are given multiple tasks to do which take away from patient care and then disciplined when there are poor patient satisfaction ratings.

    Advice to Management

Actually come and work on the floor instead of creating "time studies" in place of physically managing employees. Give incentives to those who are consistent in providing quality care to patients.
