I worked at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Always job opportunities available but thats because of high turnover.

    Cons

Pay, management, poor training, no teamwork

    Advice to Management

Company morale is awful, employees are miserable and petty, management is unhelpful, busy bodies, bullies and gossipers.

I have been working at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Could be a great place for professional growth and development. Many resources available to staff and employees.

    Cons

Upper management had big business "corporate" one size fits all mentality. Corners are cut to save money, medical professionals are spread too thin. Lots of learning opportunity within the system since merger.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees concerns, at the end of the day they are working the front lines, they are the ones that can make or break the organization.

I worked at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

My experience was that the majority of my managers and directors were Great. They listened to their employees and genuinely tried to improve the work experience and environment so that we had what we needed to do our job well and joyfully.
    Team work always encouraged,

    Cons

My motto Take care of your employees and they will take care of you.
Meetings and some safety stuff seemed geared towards the hospital, would be nice if there were more site or clinic based info, while it is one system they are separate entities.

    Advice to Management

Be a positive supporter of your staff, if they feel appreciated and positively encouraged they will strive to do better for the company.

    Pros

Loved the organization and the patients. Real effort to make the physical environment pleasant. Great food for patients and staff and visitors.

    Cons

Never enough representatives to do the work. Someone always in training, out sick/injured, on time off or vacation. This was in 2001. Need increased beds. Patients have to wait hours for a room (present day.)

    Advice to Management

Clean up processes; make them more effective. Create identification of employees that could be better utilized elsewhere in the corporation.

    Pros

Good foundational training among hospitalists, ancillary staff and opportunity to be exposed to clinical environment

    Cons

Some of the downsides is that in some Departments sadly do not appreciate the services or presence of a chaplain. I was rudely yelled at by one Trauma Nurse in ER and a Cardiologist in Cath Lab. Trauma nurse jokingly said, "chaplain did you read your pager?" The cardiologist twice on two ocassions yelled, "you...yes you...get back, get out of here!!!!"

    Advice to Management

All Clinical Directors and Managers, including Charge nurses should accept and respect the services of a hospital chaplain whether the chaplain is a Staff member or resident Chaplain. ALSO, management from the CEO on should consider culture diversity and hire more African American hospitalists. There is only ONE full-time African American hospitalist in Tyler as of 2015-2016 and one black [not American] on the Organizational Chart. Something rather strange about that.
