Not flexible with remote work after being home for over a year due to COVID. They are wanting everyone back in office full time, which is back pedaling their word on trying to adapt to newer company policies and being more flexible

Great Benefits-- Work/Life Balance - Great co-workers- CEO seemed very approachable
Cons
Final manager was super unprofessional, making negative comments about other staff and even higher management. No training given but promised.... It's a very long process to move departments or even get hired. I would say it takes about 4 months both for when I got hired and from start to finish when I tried to change positions. At times overstaff and managers I dealt with were control freaks. Certainly not practice the bottom up as they state is the lean way.

Lots of Good Qualities, but Overall Still an Old School Place to Work

Compensation and benefits are pretty good Work/life balance overall good Exposure to leaders within your department They do give you some stretch projects, if you demonstrate willingness Sense of community, pride in company heritage Genuine focus on community stewardship (i.e. longstanding United Way partnership, commitment to hiring veterans, volunteering, etc.) Coworkers are overall very nice, caring people...they will ask about your weekends and go to lunch with you regularly Annual meeting is a neat event to attend, they do a good job of putting it on for employees and members

Old school culture, lack of diversity among leadership, resistance to change Some of the leaders (not the C-suite but a layer or two below) can be condescending, difficult to work with, but their behavior seems to be tolerated SAP implementation did not go well, it has been a headache to all involved Work can become repetitive, no clear career path in many cases Location - Inver Grove Heights isn't too exciting, but is convenient for many employees

Pros
CHS is a great company to start out in because there are so many gears turning you get the chance to learn a variety of different things from marketing to agronomy. They're also very flexible with work-life balance which was a big plus. Pay was exceptional, too.
Cons
Can be tough at times to get a grasp on how the whole company functions as a unit, but you learn more with time. CHS can also at times feel like they're stuck in their old ways and want to keep it that way... An attitude of "if it's not broke, don't fix it" rather than pushing boundaries to be better.
