I worked at CIT full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company has adequate scale to offer diverse career path opportunities and yet is small enough to enable frequent access to senior management. Undergoing change which affords those with ambition and talent an opportunity step up into larger roles.

    Cons

Company has undergone multiple management changes in recent years resulting in shifts in strategic priorities and an environment of constant change. Exec management focused on pleasing new bosses as opposed to team/employee development.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees and they will take care of you.

Great place for learning and growth. The work is challenging and very rewarding. Employee input and recommendations are taken in account in various decisions.

The company has been going through transformation and changes which has affected employee morale as some benefits have been reduced.

    Advice to Management

Need to clearly communicate when the company expects to get to business as usual and expense cutting measures end.

I worked at CIT full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The corp structure is relatively simple as compare to some other Banks. You will have opportunity to work with senior management.

    Cons

Too much politics within the finance teams.

    Advice to Management

May formal policy for flexible work hours and give employees opportunity to work remotely.

    Pros

Good location, long- ime coworkers are professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Not much else to say here.

    Cons

Continuous corporate upheaval and downsizing; Senior management knowledge gaps and mistimed business line sell- offs result in consultant costs higher than that of departed employees.

I worked at CIT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employees were nice and knowledgeable but suffer from daily anxiety of not knowing where the company is heading and hence always looking outside for work with resumes.

    Cons

Employee Morale is very low . People are leaving in droves especially this year in addition to many people being let go once in every few months. Management does not keep the employees informed of the real direction of the company. When the previous CEO John Thain was there he used to keep the employees informed about the direction company and use to motivate the employees. Current Management is clueless about the morale of employees and direction of the company and does not motivate employees. The yearly compensation raises for the hardworking employees are non-existent this was not the case with previous management was there. It looks like the management is waiting to sell the company after selling all the most profitable assets. The company and morale of employee was better before the merger with One West Bank. No one is there to Reign in middle managers who do no treat their employees properly. I would recommend this company only for someone who has absolutely no choice but to work for CIT. Wonderful company gone bad, glad I left in the right time. Unfortunately culture was an issue where no one took responsibility for issues arising with production issues.

    Advice to Management

Please emulate management outreach done by the previous management under John Thain/ Stacy Goodman and infuse positive energy into the morale of the employees. No one can perform under uncertainty of losing their jobs every day, there are very good and talented employees and they will leave if something is not done. Heightened PMC can be done only when employees are given the right tools to succeed to weed out the bad ones, but here without any effort put into help employees succeed if you keep putting pressure using Heightened PMC, good and talented people will leave.

I have been working at CIT full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are great people who work here.

    Cons

CIT needs to catch up with other financial institutions, especially IT. I've been here for almost a year and they are not up to par and far behind other banks.

    Advice to Management

Invest in technology and also take a look at other organizations in the same space that are successful.
