I worked at CIT full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits! If you work with a good team you can almost ignore everything else that is wrong.

    Cons

Workload, moral, typical management with no concern for employee satisfaction, IT infrastructure is weak and outdated, high turn over in the last two years (2015-2016), and poor HR management. Management tries to do more than they can handle and end up failing.

    Advice to Management

Focus on employee satisfaction and creating a work\life balance and people might actually enjoy coming to work.

I have been working at CIT (Less than a year)

    Pros

Generally the people are great! Hard working, dedicated, knowledgeable and friendly.

    Cons

1.) Management has no sense of direction. This is evident in the ever changing line-up of puppets making up the executive committee.

2.)The focus is on lining managements pockets. Executives come in, create chaos in the organization, constantly acquiring and terminating subsidiaries at the expense of the employees. In the end they take a huge bonus and paycheck and the employees get jack.

3.) Constant focus on operating expenses for "most people". Salaries, bonuses, and recognition are far below that of peers and this is due to management trying to cut operating expenses. Instead of eliminating lucrative executive bonuses, the average employee has to suffer. Benefits packages change every year, 401k matches are dropped "to be more competitive" (wtf?) and raises are minimal if they are received at all.

    Advice to Management

Focus on your people! They do the work for you to make the money and are shown no recognition! Stop hiring corporate fat cats who come in to rob the company and leave just a few years later putting the direction of the company in turmoil! Recognize the good people do not just what they do wrong! Hire/promote from within.

I have been working at CIT full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are reasonable, and the work-life balance isn't terrible.

    Cons

In most departments and positions, there is no room for growth; top talent was all poached from GATX and GE, so forget about moving up. There is no support for learning or development; not even on your own time nor on your own dime. New processes are implemented in a slipshod, poorly-thought-out, purely reactionary manner, and typically have to be revised immediately because of the easily foreseen and completely unacceptable consequences. Systems integral to our jobs are completely antiquated at best, and often almost completely non-functional. Chicago office is completely overlooked by corporate, and the procedures imposed from the top often fail to consider that you can't successfully run a leasing company as you do a bank. There is no in-house HR, which makes dealing with personnel issues a chore, with the hiring managers who regularly deal with HR having the upper hand in all situations; do not expect any support there. Despite a significant portion of the workforce for Rail operating out of satellite offices, there is zero support for working from home or flex time.

I have been working at CIT (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Hmmmm... paycheck hasn't bounced ...yet?

    Cons

Complete lack of leadership. The old group of lackies were thrown out with golden parachutes and replaced by a new, more arrogant, less engaging, tighter knit group of lackies.

Lack of vision, lack of communication, and the inability to lead. CIO took 6+ months to release org chart

I don't quite understand why there are any executives...they need to pay consulting companies millions for all decisions

    Advice to Management

Get off your high horse and engage your teams...not just a one time town hall, but every day. Seriously, most of you were out on the street before coming here

I worked at CIT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good colleagues , large diversified org . Fairly fast moving so opportunities to get things done and move things fed.

    Cons

I had a particularly bad manager, who's shortcomings were recognised at the highest levels, but nothing was done and all the team eventually left.

    Advice to Management

    Communication
