    Pros

The cross training opportunities are abundant - especially since people quit all the time. I have worked for 3 teams in 6 months.

    Cons

They have a lot of contract staff, and they treat their contractors like crap. Besides using a contract staffer that doesn't provide PTO, sick leave, or affordable health care, we do way more while making way less.
If unpaid days are taken off because we're sick or our kids are sick (so we can't give an abundance of notice), it actually counts against us. Like we're not people who have lives that get in the way sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are not robots, nor are they slaves. Treat them with respect and do not use your title/position to lord authority over people.

    Cons

Corporate management and strategy is inconsistant. Top down management emasculates line managers.

I have been working at CIT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Dedicated work force; great potential.

    Cons

Executive leadership is executing a cut and slash strategy in an attempt to attain acceptable ratios, under pressure from analysts and shareholders, after the acquisition of One West. Op Ex levels are high in spite of good 2015 performances by business units. Year end payouts were awful – indirectly resulting from the platinum parachutes of 11 severed executives ($60MM worth). This and illogical RIF’s are disenfranchising employees and exacerbating an already unhealthy culture. It is not sustainable. Further, leadership is uncommunicative and cliquish at the business unit level. There is little latitude to lead in any authentic manner; one must be in lock step with a failing execution.

    Advice to Management

Wake up. Ignore your business partners and employees at your own peril.

    Pros

    My work team is great.

    Cons

Low pay for support functions, expensive benefits, only care about bottom line and treat their employees simply as a item line on a spreadsheet.

I have been working at CIT full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, great location, varied business interests cover a wide range of banking and finance products and services, plenty of opportunities if you're willing to move

    Cons

I work to support a mortgage servicing operation whose growth is not really in the long term vision for the company. I am also a legacy OneWest employee. Therefore, my experiences are vastly different than many employees who have been with CIT for as many years.

    Advice to Management

As a legacy OneWest employee, greater visibility into decision making and a sense that ideas will be heard beyond my manager are much needed. Employees need information in order to make better decisions.
