I worked at CIT as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

My co-workers were very supportive, and my manager allowed me to go to the other floors and learn what the other departments were working on. I liked having multiple projects to work on all at the same time while being forced to communicate with people in New York and New Jersey to get them done.

    Cons

I had a lot of free time. I kept asking for work but didn't get much more to do, so I started working with people outside of the Risk department on projects to fill the time. The intern program at the time didn't have much to do either

Relatively flexible working hours; work hours are not extremely long; reasonably friendly work force; reasonable pay given the amount of hours required to work.

    Cons

Very limited opportunities to move up on the career ladder or in getting a reasonable pay increase; rewards have not been commensurated with job performance; very low employee morale.

    I worked at CIT full-time

    Pros

Great personalities, good work environment, utilize your abilities, good bosses

    Cons

Very low pay to market, being part of risk department was biggest hindrance, many employees left due to lack of growth and promotions in risk, favoritism amongst senior management limited bonuses, was moved up after bankruptcy lacks experience. Could have been challenged more. Portfolio management not valued at institution.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully things have changed since merger but problem lies with some of senior management below executive level that either need to retire. Executives did a great job bringing company back to health but employees suffered.
