Great experience, long hours, lots of snacks

May 10, 2019 - Medical Scribe in New York, NY

      Pros

Great experience for anyone on the pre-med/PA/nursing track. Most providers are helpful and will teach you extra things on the side if time allows. Lots of free snacks and coffee. Most sites have supportive staff. The key is having a good team, otherwise work can easily become stressful. Good benefits. Room for growth within the management team due to constant restructuring

      Cons

Long hours, expensive medical insurance, no start of shift grace period

      A great starting point

Aug 14, 2019 - Medical Scribe in New York, NY
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Patient care experience: you get to learn a lot on site, a lot of medical experience (especially if you plan to go to medical/PA school), working hand in hand with physicians and PAs - Break room (free snacks, drinks, the occasional company paid lunches) - Coworkers and team morale - Only have to work 4 days a week for 38 hours (OT is always available) - Benefits: 401K w/ employee match of 4%, Full Medical/Vision/Dental, commuter packages, short-term and long-term disability insurance

      Cons

      - Scribes/MA/PCRs are overworked and underpaid compared to their management and X-ray counterparts. Scribes and MAs in general, are doing most of the patient care work on-site but being paid $16 an hour is not an accurate representation of the work that is expected of you - Management: CityMD hires a lot of management outside of the healthcare field (mostly customer service whether it be from Footlocker or an airline company), which creates a large discrepancy and gap in the workplace because they have no medical experience in a facility that requires it. Management is a big game of gossip, hierarchy, and power plays which affects the staff the most; and gets worse the higher the ladder you go. Management has a sense of entitlement attached to their roles and the main reason why CityMD has a bad work culture which counters their mission for kindness and care. - PTO/Sick - no vacation time provided, has to be from PTO (which is accumulated) and only 40 hours of sick time. - No room for growth if you're not the favorite of a management team
