  1. "GREAT Company"

    StarStarStarStarStar
Former Employee - Associate Account Manager in Westborough, MA

I worked at CJ Affiliate by Conversant full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

I was an Associate Account Manager in the Westborough office. Great company and people. A lot of smart and dedicated people work in this office. The management team is very strong and they truly care about their teams and people. The company is a fun company to work for.

      Cons

Not in Boston which was a long commute.

      Advice to Management

Move the office to Boston because otherwise you will loose more talent.

I have been working at CJ Affiliate by Conversant full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

People you get to work with. Everyone is willing to help, majority of the time with a positive attitude. Other departments also happy to help with any questions.

      Cons

      - management is all over the place. One day it’s this, the next it’s completely different - stacks work upon work even when they know you are already at your limit - turnover rate is said to be “normal” but people seem to drop left and right - not much room to move up. Only can if someone else above you leaves, and even then you go against every other office so someone could take over who has significantly less experience,...

      Advice to Management

Stick to a plan and stop shifting so quickly. It causes massive workloads for employees and leaves the good ones to pick up the pieces of the others who come in late and leave early

I have been working at CJ Affiliate by Conversant for more than 4 years

      Pros

Really great product and company culture. Great network. Good sales teams. Good sales leader East Coast.

      Cons

It used to be a great company but the founders/owners left and a new management took over. His style is really tough and does not fit with our nice culture. Talented people leave and are replaced by brown-nosers.

      Advice to Management

Go out and listen to clients. Come back in and listen to employees. Alternatively get a management coach. Not everyone is motivated by $... especially WASPs.

I worked at CJ Affiliate by Conversant full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Young work environment with lots of energy and excitement and camaraderie. Fun events and nice office. They give you the opportunity to manage your own portfolio and make a name for yourself. Pay is average.

      Cons

Direction of company initiatives has been all over the place. With the buyouts and changes in management, things are hopefully headed in the right direction, but new product and service rollouts were always too hasty, and there was a constant disconnect between the product development/sales side and the account management teams' preparedness. We didn't know how to use the tools we were being told to sell, and we were...

      Advice to Management

Sync up the marketing/sales/product teams with the account management teams more effectively so there isn't a huge disconnect between what's expected and what we can actually deliver upon. Consider a merit-based promotion system, particularly for ARs to AAMs to AMs so that we don't just feel like we're waiting for somebody to quit or get hired and then have a passive-aggressive internal competition for the opening. There...

      Pros

-social office -good work hours -Summer Fridays -strong new-hires

      Cons

While I think CJ as a whole is doing great things and heading in the right direction, the New York office is a disaster. New hires have been great, but unfortunately with such a small office decisions are made by 2 or 3 people who have no idea what they're doing. Accounts and structures are changed on a whim, there is no continuity and minds are changed about important items daily. They don't seek any input about workloads,...

      Advice to Management

Hire new management? But seriously, this list could take hours to write. Most importantly, seek input of staff at all levels, don't make rash decision, and don't constantly change your mind once you've made changes.

I worked at CJ Affiliate by Conversant full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

The people are some of the best around, although the pace is a little slower than I would like, it is a wonderful environment.

      Cons

The pay is sub-par, and the attitude of the company is very corporate and guidelines must be adhered to. The affiliate world is very mature and leads to slow paced opportunity.

      Advice to Management

Be more aware of what is going on outside of affiliate and expand into markets that are seeing growth with affiliate.

      Pros

Collaborative team environment. Frequent team building and networking events. Bagel Fridays.

      Cons

CJ was a great place to get your foot in the door in terms of online advertising and marketing, but it is not a place to build a longterm career. There is way too much bureaucracy. They are behind the times with how a modern online company should work. For example, you are never allowed to work from home. How is this possible in this day and age? Also, you accrue 3 hours of "time off" for every paycheck. This means that...

      Pros

Having a diversified portfolio of accounts allows for great networking and the ability to learn about different industries.

      Cons

Commission Junction is not competitive with pay or training programs. There is not much to aspire to once you are there. It is mostly a stepping stone.
