Amazing company that values their employees.
Apr 20, 2023 - Energy AdvisorRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good people. Culture is very important to them. They send out frequent employee surveys asking how they're doing. They care about equity in the workplace. You can feel good about what you do working for a company whose focus is energy conservation. Good benefits, lots of time off after you've been with them for a while.
Cons
Because they have contracts across the country, the pay range can vary quite a bit. If you live in a state where the cost of living is high and want to move to a remote position in a nearby state, you'll have to take a pay cut, even if the position is higher ranking.

A good place to work
Dec 7, 2022 - Energy Engineer II in Oakland, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Teams are committed to excellence and meeting company and contract goals. Mission driven - saving energy and providing opportunities for low-income households. Thoughtful program managers. Supportive engineering team management. Opportunities to work on a variety of projects, or to specialize in a particular area. Lots of support on the engineering team for skill building and knowledge sharing. It's a great place to learn.
Cons
Time tracking / billing against contract work is necessary, but not that fun. Compensation isn't competitive (at least in Bay Area market). Advancement can be difficult and slow-moving. The ultimate decision is in the hands of upper level executives not familiar with the individual up for promotion and with more of an eye on budget. Since the company is spread out, it can be difficult to understand how you fit in and how the work you do supports the company goals.
