I have been working at CME Group (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A few of the leaders are very bright and welcome innovation
Competitive 401K and Pension. Provides some tuition assistance.

    Cons

Most leaders are too old school and it's still the old boys club.
Too much politics that get in the way of effective strategy and product solutions
    Salary is not competitive.

    Advice to Management

Too much power is consolidated into C-suite people who have been with the industry for along time but not as aware of the shifting global corporate landscape. Be open to fresh new blood and new ideas.
Offer better pay and more avenues to promote employees--if not to more managerial roles, at least to more specializations.

I have been working at CME Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent work life balance and benefits. Pension plan is a plus. Competitive compensation and friendly work environment. Fast paced environment with bright individuals. Plenty of in house complimentary training opportunities.

    Cons

Career paths depend on the department. Some are very straightforward where others are non existent. Most people either move to another department or leave the company to progress.

    Pros

Exciting, face paced, sometimes stressful environment, but there is always something interesting happening and something new to learn

    Cons

Very stressful and competitive. The building itself is old and location isn't optimal. CME's previous location was much nicer

    Advice to Management

I don't really have any advice to management. I think they did a good enough job considering the environment and the market

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at CME Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits including some tuition assistance.
A few key people in leadership are open to innovation and change.

    Cons

Most senior leadership are not open to innovation or change despite promising to promote an innovative culture. Some divisions and departments are run by people with old-school mentality and a tight reign. Cross-divisional work is ineffective and cumbersome as a result. Culture and brand is not world-class as the company states it to be. Employees who want to create world-class ideas and culture are stifled.

Compensation is at best average, but usually below average.

Our most recent CEO has left and his role is being taken over by the current Chairman. I do not have faith that our Chairman and now CEO knows how to take care of his employees or understands the complex challenges that our former CEO did, who was very approachable and engaged with employees. It's hard to picture the Chairman as an effective CEO when he has spent more time with being on TV than with his own employees.

    Advice to Management

Be open to change and new ideas. Do not hold onto methods or ideas just because it's "always have we've done it."
