You’re great too! Thanks for reaching out and sharing your positive experience at CMI/Compas. As a current employee, you may have heard that we’re making updates to our offices, especially our Market Street location – which will definitely include additional collaboration spaces.

I worked at CMI/Compas full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Great company culture-free lunch is often offered by the company. Fun company events. Casual wear at work and relaxed atmosphere. 1 day work from home a week is really nice!

    Cons

Pretty specific hierarchal track and very specific skill based promotion guidelines used (which can be good or bad depending on your experience of getting promotions). Lower salary than is offered other places. Specific software used/organization depends on your team.

I have been working at CMI/Compas full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

CMI boasts very strong training for junior employees which makes it a great company to start your career in media with. There is also plenty of room to grow within your role and receive promotions. CMI is beginning to understand what it is to be a media agency in terms of affording somewhat industry standard benefits (working remotely, time off, etc.)

    Cons

After being in business for 30 years, CMI offers a VERY structured environment. This was great when I started my media career, but as I've progressed it has become a bit strangling. Compensation is average.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees when sharing opinions!

I have been working at CMI/Compas full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They are knowledge on paid search and the pharmaceutical industry. They care about their clients.

    Cons

They don't care about their employees. They act superior to others, especially new-comers. You are always under a microscope and don't have the time to show your skills before they put you on a performance plan/fire you. The training program is horrible and employees are taught way too much information at first, and expected to flawlessly perform months later.

    Advice to Management

You need to train your employees in a proper manner. Higher-up employees need to learn how to respect new-comers and make them feel welcome. One of your core values is: We Are Family. It's the exact opposite.

I worked at CMI/Compas full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

-If you're a young professional, you'll meet a lot of great co-workers that will help you through those miserable days. -They provide lunch on many occasions but you'll soon find out that you'll be so swamped with work that you'll miss those opportunities.

    Cons

-Most Supervisors and Directors within the company are too young and inexperienced to be overseeing other employees and on numerous occasions when dealt with a problem, their response is "I don't know". This lack of experience breeds a toxic environment and managers are usually competing with other teams to see who can be first with new ideas for new businesses. -Most of the day is wasted on endless pointless meetings...

    Advice to Management

There's honestly too many things that need to be done but for one, stop telling employees to write misleading reviews while working at CMI as some incentive and actually listen to your employee's concerns as most are miserable working here. These concerns will probably go unnoticed until there is a big enough employee fallout but until then HR will respond to this with a generic response saying things will change in the...

    I worked at CMI/Compas full-time

    Pros

    Very hardworking and nice colleagues

    Cons

    - Whoever pitches for new businesses and/or service offerings to the current and prospective clients tend to overpromise and the result of it is that CMI underdelivers. - Cannot generalize my experience, but my manager cared so much about his own reputation and his own interests, rather than team management. When someone in other departments or on his own team 'screwed up', his only solution was to yell at the person...

    "Dancing around Dysfunction"

    StarStarStarStarStar
      Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

      I worked at CMI/Compas full-time

      Pros

Reasonably flexible, including recently increased number of weekdays to work remotely Opportunity to work with top pharma clients in the HCP space Some talented individuals Some opportunity for advancement if you know who to suck up to

      Cons

Management seems dysfunctional, with lots of questionable business decisions and some of the high level people doing way too much, often at a cost, while others get away with doing pretty much nothing and dumping everything on their subordinates Very political, it is not about ability or performance, but whether person x or y likes you or doesn’t Simply not the level of professionalism that you would expect from a company...

      Advice to Management

Take serious action to actually address the concerns people are voicing here and elsewhere or you will continue to see a mass exodus of employees. While additional benefits are nice, they ignore the real issues at hand. HR responding to every post on this site shows how bad the situation is, but instead of actually taking steps to address problems, they care more about public perception.

      Pros

They have pretty good time off, and ability to work from home 2 days a week. Their work life balance is good, as a I rarely have to stay past 5:30.

      Cons

CMI does things very differently than other agencies. Anyone who has only worked at CMI has a hard time understanding why employees coming from other agencies don't understand their processes. I don't think this company sets you up for career growth, especially as an entry level employee. Due to the way the bill their clients and other factors, your roles of responsibility are very definitive and it is hard to be involved...

I have been working at CMI/Compas full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Wonderful, friendly colleagues Great ideas Fast-growing agency

      Cons

Great ideas that are not well-executed Very reactive management Top-down culture where junior-level staff is to execute the 'great ideas and plans' that are not sufficiently explained or shared. Decisions are made by management/leadership and imposed on junior-level staff. Advice to Management

Grow some balls to say NO to the clients even if they bring us some big $$. Competent employees are burned out because of the additional tasks without being fairly compensated while incompetent employees are left untrained and undisciplined (and competent ones need to constantly cover them). Don't make your employees pay for your poor decisions, and treat them with respect - don't just impose your decisions on them without...
