    I worked at CMSI full-time

    Pros

Overall it's an OK place to work. I enjoyed my coworkers and thought the management did a good job.

    Cons

They use some older technology which isn't too exciting to work with. There's a lot of developer turnover, so the team wasn't very consistent.

I worked at CMSI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Causal work environment. Good work site location (free parking). Company benefits were average to good for a small company.

    Cons

Senior managers that have been with company many years (small inner circle) didn't let new managers feel like a part of the team. They didn't listen to suggestions for improving the company.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of stale managers who are only comfortable with old ways and don't want to change to better the company.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at CMSI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most of the people are relatively nice.

    Cons

The work load is OUTRAGEOUS! Communication is non-existent, No documentation of Workflows, Policies, Procedures, Work Responsibilities, No training, Low Pay, No positive feedback EVER. They almost try to whip you into submission by not treating you like a person, but a just a warm body that needs to produce. There are only a few people who know what to do so if they leave the company would collapse. It's unfortunate because there are people there with enormous potential but the company will not nurture it.

    Advice to Management

Make some changes before EVERYONE leaves. Stop talking down to people and realize that they are people and you can get more flies with honey than vinegar.

I worked at CMSI full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The friends you meet.....but then eventually leave behind. Clients that do not renew their contracts!

    Cons

DYSFUNCTIONAL!!!! The job descriptions are not accurate at all! A BA is responsible for Project Management (including resource management), QA tasks, Tier 2 support, engineering tasks on top of the BA tasks. When you are interviewed/hired you are told you don't need the technical knowledge to do the work, but when you have status meetings with your managers, you are held accountable for not knowing the technical stuff. Then they ding you on your annual review so you end up NOT getting a raise or a raise that's a slap in the face. There is no documentation on how anything works or how anything is supposed to be done. There are no training classes for new employees so you struggle to learn everything. Sr. Management tried to develop training videos for new employees but the videos were created with a person holding an IPHONE and recording the steps on the computer screen. SERIOUSLY FOLKS THIS IS A TECHNOLOGY COMPANY!??!?!? Your timesheet is a gigantic Excel spreadsheet! Managers have no time management skills and project managers have no clue how to manage a project. The expectation is that you complete a 70 hour task in 32 hours. There is no advancement, once you are hired you are stuck there with that title even if you are doing another positions tasks/responsiblities. This is how they end up paying people under market value. Communication between Dept Mangers is non existent and there is no leadership what so ever. There is not ONE happy/satisfied client so you are constantly getting yelled at by them, especially since they are required to pay for everything, even broken stuff that was delievered to them. One client even called us extortionists! So to sum things up, you are overworked, underpaid, constantly fighting internal battles and getting yelled at by clients everyday!

    Advice to Management

The Senior Management is the biggest problem with this company. The CTO has one image of how things are run and the Directors have a totally different view, and they are both wrong! They even hired an independent consultant to try and figure out the problems with the company. That ended up being a waste of time and money because they refuse to implement any of the recommendations the consultant made but then again, were they even listening? They are NOT open to new ideas to increase efficency or productivity so don't even bother coming up with ideas to improve processes because you will only have the door slammed in your face. Advice to managers: Sit down with a person in each position and shadow them for a day so you can understand what they go through. I BET YOU CAN'T MAKE IT ONE DAY!

    Pros

Work from home that is it.

    Cons

Expect you to work 60+ hours a week. Managed by intimidation. Don't value their employees. Revolving door. Lots and lots of turnover! Job descriptions are not clear. Management doesn't like suggestions and target you if you don't conform to their culture. They keep profits up by keeping salaries down.

    Advice to Management

Value your best assets....your employees! To the clients: beware of an employer that devalue and demoralize their employees. They will treat you the same way!
