I have been working at CNO Financial Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I work in a relaxed, open department, where achievement is generally recognized and rewarded in the long term. Communication is good, no drama, no jerks to work with.

    Cons

Having to work with poor software and questionable data. The IT dept. is practically worthless since being outsourced in early 2015.

I have been working at CNO Financial Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good corporate direction and leadership. Good benefits, matching 401k, and on-site clinic. I worked in a call center environment, so workload depended on the call volume, but nothing too overwhelming.

    Cons

There have been many organizational changes over the past many years, but not all have been bad. The IT systems could use some updates, and reduce the number required to do your job.
    No major negatives.

I worked at CNO Financial Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities to interact with people in different departments and learn about the functions of each department during project work. My one up was very supportive in my overall development and provided me opportunities for growth that was in his realm and control however it was limited due to policies not in his control.

Overall, I worked with some great people and everyone for the most part was friendly. Decent work/life balance with flex time and opportunities to work from home.

    Cons

Even though I did advance in some respects, growth was extremely limited and the requirements to obtain a Senior title were next to impossible due to odd HR guidelines. As people mentioned, the pay was o.k. but not really realistic. It felt like it was based off of mid/southern Indiana (where home office is located) cost of living and not Chicago.

Health benefits were decent and comparable to other companies in the area until they switched to a pure HSA product with high deductibles which was brutal to your sparse net pay - especially for folks in the early part of their career with a young family.

    Advice to Management

This might have been resolved already but they need to provide more options for health benefits, offering only HSA high deductible plans in crazy and not beneficial for the consumer. Increase compensation, a majority of them are not in line if you did a basic market assessment - remember, it costs a heck of a lot more to live in the Chicagoland area than Indianapolis. If you can budget for/afford lavish parties and annual sales meetings in tropical climates, you can afford wage increases and better benefits.

I worked at CNO Financial Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

If you perform at a high level, you can receive recognition and autonomy; reasonable hours and benefits.

    Cons

The culture doesn't focus on performance. Senior management is a good ol' boys club that offers lucrative contracts to associates without regard for the business outcome.

    Advice to Management

Plan your work and work your plan. Frequent changes in direction are an almost incalculable expense. Don't keep trying the same solutions and expecting a different result.
