I have been working at COCC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Positive attitude and family atmosphere in company that tries to give a good work/life balance.
Start with 20 PTO days which is great.
Not in Hartford, lots of free parking, nice new building.
    Flexible schedule.
Gym and subsidized meals on premises.

    Cons

Salaries are below standard which used to be offset by benefits but now that has gone down hill as well. Insurance benefits are getting very expensive. Raises are abysmal.
Initial training was sink or swim with not much documentation for backup.
Management rules are different for each employee. Work at home is allowed for some 100% but others can even get a random day here and there which is unfair and causes resentment within departments.
    Lots of nepotism.

    Advice to Management

Start giving better raises to your existing proven employees and be consistent on the WAH policies.

I worked at COCC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Beautiful building, recently done over. Not sure there was much more, worked way too much and was not fairly paid.

    Cons

Over worked and underpaid by a boss who had a 1950's mindset yet managed a team if almost all women! WFH was chosen for random employees, there was no rhyme or reason. HR help was non existent if there was a problem. Unless you were willing to work extra and not be paid for it you were looked down upon

I have been working at COCC full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Company is growing quickly.
    Building is beautiful.
    Work life balance.
Executives are clued into staff and work closely on projects.
Easy to move up compared to big business America.

    Cons

    Market value compensation.
    Projects pile up at times.

    Pros

Wonderful culture and environment at least in the Southington office. Company is growing quickly and sparking promotions.

I have been working at COCC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some employees are allowed to work from home. The Southington building is nice. Food from the lunch room is supposedly subsidized. You get most of the federal holidays off. Plenty of parking. If you're a likeable white guy under 25 with a bachelor's degree, you may actually have an opportunity to move up someday.

    Cons

Promotions are given based on nepotism & favoritism rather than merit, experience, or ability, so middle management is clueless at best. The abysmal salary used to be alright because the benefits package was great up until this year. They've changed the rules on OT pay and now only offer a HIGH deductable health plan.

    Advice to Management

The company has grown tremendously in the last few years, but all that growth is just underpaid young college grads still on mom's health insurance with no plans to stay here as a long term career. If you want to lure good new talent, you need to pay them a living wage. And give them real health insurance. And treat them like human beings.

    Pros

This is a great place to work! Employees are treated very well, and have a voice in the direction of this company. It's a fast growing company, lots of room for growth! Excellent benefits, and you have tons of options for training, best company I ever worked for!

    Cons

Salary is OK, but could be a little better, but other than this, I have no complaints.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing!
