I have been working at COLSA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, leadership, culture with effective processes and procedures in place, people are respectful of one another and everyone works together.

    Cons

Have not experienced any downsides so far...I've been employed here for about one year and COLSA by far exceeds previous employers. Did not know a lot about COLSA prior to employment but was very impressed during the interview process and from that initial interview, I knew this was a place I wanted to work.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!!

I have been working at COLSA full-time

    Pros

Great people to work with, Looks out for their employee's work life balance. Nice wellness program, and on site fitness center

    Cons

Switched from one contract to another within the company, and could not get what salary was offered to me for the position. There's a policy that caps how much of a raise can be given, and my former contract was underbid. I make a lot less money than my coworkers doing the same work for this reason.

I worked at COLSA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    There is mobility between jobs.

    Cons

For me I had just received a promotion and the first day on my new job my COLSA supervisor told me the COR had complained about me. But this made no sense since I didn't even have a computer nor system access to do the job. I asked the supervisor again and she said her boss said the COR did this before. Unfortunately started off on a bad foot through no actions on my part. There were a few other issues related to none COLSA personnel not really having a clue of how long it took to right the ship. So I resigned and took sanity over money. All in all I would give COLSA the benefit of the doubt. I really never got a clear answer about why the COR would complain on my first day but then again maybe the COLSA supervisor was being dishonest to me for whatever reasons. I really intended to go gang busters and right the jobs ship. Well all of this has been my opinion we all have one you know.

    Advice to Management

Dig to the bottom of grievances for if they are legit you might have to take corrective action. Otherwise a good company with opportunity.

    Cons

In-processing is burdensome for new employees not at a major company site.

Develop concise listing of company size, customers, projects along with the current listing of core competencies, this would assist employees to better promote a great company.

I worked at COLSA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. Friendly coworkers and a good social environment. Overall I enjoyed the work for what it was, but could have had the same or better experience working for a different company. My experience with COLSA was mostly neutral.

    Cons

Government contract work, so projects came up for rebid continuously. Looming sense of job insecurity. Little say in how the company operates due to lack of interaction with upper management. Contract workers can feel a bit isolated from the company itself. The company seems to hang on to employees regardless of their work ethic and practical experience, so at times it was frustrating to have to work with incompetent or unmotivated people.

I worked at COLSA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere. Managers are very laid back and approachable, even with the busy schedules they keep. So many opportunities for advancement and/or movement and is supported throughout. Upper echelon management is very involved and knows even the employees NOT located at HQ. Benefits, especially 401k, are very nice! Hours are great, very flexible must of the time. Very family and community oriented. Many great volunteer opportunities in local area and supportive if you want to volunteer outside the area. Colsa tries really hard to keep employees IF there is a loss of contact. Absolutely loved working for this company/family and look forward to going back someday soon.

    Cons

Retaining employees is great.... Until it becomes costly. Colsa seems to have a hard time during people that simply do not perform. I suppose every tree must have one bad apple and every family one black sheep.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing! Continue to recognize your people for the great things they do each day.
