I worked at CONSOL Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

First, actually last worked here in 2011, Glassdoor wouldn't let me go past '13 for some reason. Some of this may have changed since then.

Pay was great for an entry-level position, flexible (at least at the time) with time off without pay in emergencies, training provided, opportunities for overtime were plentiful at the time. Motivated individuals could strike for pilot after 2 years and be making near 6 figures 2-3 years after that.

    Cons

2 week hitches weren't a con for me at the time, but those with family or general troubles at home might find it difficult. The sleep schedule is too much for some people, 6 hours on, 6 hours off for 2 weeks at a time.

    Pros

    Pay, benefits, schedule, and safety.

    Cons

Virtually everything else is a con.

    Advice to Management

New management from the top down.

I worked at CONSOL Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, exciting projects, incredible corporate office with a decent workout room (a little bigger than the average hotel gym)

    Cons

Poor communication and direction from management. This can be a pro, as there is no micro management here, but it is hard to complete a project without direction and communication from support groups such as purchasing/environmental.

I worked at CONSOL Energy (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There really are none beyond decent compensation.

    Cons

    Unqualified board
A CEO that would struggle to run a 2 chair barbershop has run the company into the ground

I have been working at CONSOL Energy full-time

    Pros

Have the right philosophy and outlook to be very successful, but I do not see enough being put into practice.

    Cons

I have been with the company for several years. I am disappointed with the leadership and quality of management that I see. There are a lot of younger managers who do not know the basic principles of management or leadership, and seem more concerned with their titles and sizes of their offices. Many employees have lost a lot from their compensation packages over the last year and a half, but from executive salaries released for 2015, it doesn't look like the top paid executives have given up anything. The CEO made nearly as much as the EQT CEO, a much larger company that has better weathered the market. Leadership should start at the top and set the example desired. Vice-presidents should leave the office and interact with their people more than once a quarter to really know what is going on. I do not see people being held accountable for their decisions and actions as they should be.

    Advice to Management

Planning needs to get much better, both short and long-term. Integration of all aspects of the gas side is not taking place and is hurting our success.

I worked at CONSOL Energy full-time

    Pros

Good pay and good benefits. They offer stock options to management and extra day pay for overtime days and hours worked.

    Cons

A lot of hours and holiday work is required along with swinging shifts. All of this combined leaves little time at home with the family

    Advice to Management

The staff at the mine sites is very good to work for they are all willing to help you in anyway that they can. Communications throughout the company needs improvement.

    Pros

Great benefits and people who work there

    Cons

Changing company focus, too much downsizing

Speak your minds, not the company line....

I worked at CONSOL Energy full-time

    Pros

The money was good you could write your own paycheck with the overtime. Money. That is honestly the best thing I could say about being part of Consol at their underground operations.

    Cons

Mandatory overtime. If you were salary force you to come in on your days off. Regardless of what you have planned. No work life balance. They say they are all about safety yet, routinely force men and women to short shift from day to midnight.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue. Go put a hard hat on and get a cap light and really go see who/how your underground operations are ran.

    Pros

None other than CONSOL is one of the few oil & gas companies in the area.

    Cons

Promotions are not based on industry experience but rather on politics.
